You are lucky Amy! My in laws are all psycho!!

:)

My future in laws are really nutty too. For a year his mom loved me and then

one night when we were visiting told him behind my back all the things she hated

about me. I hade ONE beer when I was out there and she calle dme an alcoholic.

His family doesnt drink because his dad is a recovering alcoholic.

I also teased (gently) my fiance for ordering sweet and sour pork because He

ALWAYS orders it. So therefore I'm snobbish and nitpicky and will nag him to

death. Oh yeah and I told him we need to look for a newer car. Ours has left

us stranded and has started smoking on many occasion and costs us more a year

than its worth...so she says I'm out for his money. He doesn't have any

money...which cracks me up. I also dumped a very nice and VERY well off person

to be with him. UGh. Okay now I'm venting. Because I might have to see her if

I go out to LA because I'm sure I can't keep it a secret and if I do I'll be

burned for that too!!!!!

She san very nice at other times...but after that incident I question her

sincerity.

That is how I try to look at it.My in-laws are in Turkey, and I will be flying

out there(16 hours flying time-yeck!) alone with Nimet to meet them for the

very first time.I dont speak a stitch of turkish except hello, mom, dad. My

brother in law just married a turkish woman,so I know I will be compared to

her by all ther relatives. There, many families still do arranged marriages,so

my marrying dh was a major shock/let down to them with my not being

turkish/muslim/or from a " proper " family.I will be there a whole month-eeek!

I wish dh could come with me.

Atleast I won't understand if they say anything bad,but then sometimes you

can tell just by the looks they give you.

I hate most how people are nice to you,but then talk behind your back.I'd

rather just know they don't like me,why they don't,and then move on.

Sara-doing her moves and frustrated it is taking so long to learn them!

WOW that sounds like she is a very protective woman!! I have heard that

mothers can be that way. I think that is too bad because they are missing

out on the person you are. You bring so much support and careness in this

group that I can't believe nobody wouldn't like you. That is just crazy!!

Thanks Amy, thats very sweet. I actually feel bad that I cant respond to more

messages. Maybe I just need to send a wide broadcast of positive vibes to

everyone every morning.

She use to be really nice to me. (my fiance) says that she does this to

everyone and will turn on her best friends in a moments notice and then turn

back. He blames it on her depression, but I suffer from depression and I don't

do that!!! Regardless, it will be a long time before I feel comftorable around

her again. It was just a horrible thing. We went LA for 7 days and this

happened on the third day. The rest of the trip was just awful. She would do

stuff like get out of the car and close the door on me before I could climb out

of the back seat. <shudder> but now she sends cards and some nice Christmas

gifts...like she use to before the incident. When I told my fiance that I

suffered from depression, I now know why his reaction was so severe. He

probably thought I would be like her. This sounds REALLY horrible, but that

woman gives mental illness a bad name.

Okay. I've vented again. Lol. The situation is just becoming increasingly more

difficult as we are trying to plan our wedding. She thinks I'm being wasteful

and that we should just elope to LA. Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Well thanks amy, I hope you still think I'm a nice person after ALL that

venting.

Depression and the meds folks take for them can all cause different

reactions. Perhaps, she is more of a mood swing victim and truly is not in

control of what she says and does. Would be nice if she were aware of this

that she could apologize after the fact (if she even remembers doing what she

did?).

You have come to the right place to vent, that's for sure. Sometimes my

in-laws get on my nerves, but it's nothing like some of the stories that I

have heard from you guys, so I feel pretty darn lucky.

Weddings can be incredibly stressful...especially when there are strong

personalities involved. Eloping is not a bad idea!

I know, but its actually important for me to get all of my family in one

place for this. I've never had a strong family and I really want to

strengthen some weakend relationships. Also my grandmother is getting very

eldrly and has never been to any of her grandchildren's weddings ( only my

brother is married...that was by a JP on a 24 leave from the military

(shotgun)). Plus, I guess I'm still a little girl at heart and have dreamed

about my wedding day since...ha ha I was little girl. I'm afraid that if I

eloped and I really didn't want ot get married in that fashion (I don't) I

might harbor resentment against my finace or my family.

Who knows she will get through these hoops eventually

I think she does remember it. She told my fiance the next day that she

didn't hate mer per se....but that I had major problems. I really think it

stems beyond depression. I have battled depression since I was 12 and have

witnessed most of my friends and family struggle with it. I don't think it

resembles anything close. I don't know if its a minor bi-polar disorder or

what. Schizophrenia also runs in his mother family.hmmmmm.

It is such a long story. My husband is estranged from 2 of his sisters. His

mom could not care less about him and his dad is only out for himself. They

are a big bunch of self centered sociopaths (sp?). One sister is the type to

do or say anything to get things her way. She has done some horrendous things

to us. It is DEFINITELY a good thing that my hubby is estranged from them,

believe me!

WHAT A GREAT IDEA--ELOPING!! (I've done it twice, now) No pressure,

ha ha...I was just going to say the same thing. I'm sure a lot of us

could use 's wedding as a perfectly good excuse to take a road

trip to Austin and get together. Wouldn't that be something?

NOW THERE'S A PLAN, SABRINA! Just think: when you and your fiance

come to meet me at the airport on Saturday, you can fly out then and

there for Vegas and take up on her most generous offer.

I don't know of it counts Barb I went in with my parents and played the slots

when no one was looking when I was little. I don't even remember it...but its

what I've been told. I am originally from NY so I like going to the hot

spots...ha ha. Went back a few years ago but didnt gamble I was passing through

on business for the longhorn bands.
