Guest guest
Hi all, I was digging through a box of baby photos etc the other night and came across some hair from my son's haircut given less than TWO WEEKS after his MMR shot, and several months after other shots and several rounds of antibiotics back-to-back... the dates just chilled me. Does anyone know whether it would be worth running a hair test on this hair to confirm/deny mercury overload at that time? Does mercury get to the hair that quick? Is it worth the $$$? My son does meet the counting rules, and has a trace of mercury showing in his current hair testing. We're hoping to start chelation in November. Guest guest
Is everyone comfortable with Great Smokies' toxic elements testing? My doctor prefers to use this lab and they have a good reputation but I'd like to hear from personal experience. thank you, [ ] How long does it take for Mercury to get into hair? Guest guest
Terry, Keep your son's baby hair. You already know what you need to know, which is that it makes sense to chelate and run the urine toxic elements test. DMSA is very safe according to what I've been told by numerous doctors "in the know". Remember, you may not see mercury on the first urine test either. But if you see other toxic metals coming out, keep going. Other metals bind to DMSA before mercury will, so you have to eliminate those to see the mercury come out. Kenny's results didn't get into the toxic range for mercury until the second test. This was also true of Dr. Amy's son (she showed me his test results) and several other patients of Dr. Cave's. (Probably also the case with lots of Dr. Amy's kids now, but when we went down there last July they were just getting started.) (Cary, NC)persistentC@... Guest guest
The MMR shot does not have a significant amount of thimerosal in it. It would be from Hep B, HIB or DTaP depending on the brand of vaccine your child received. I think it would be well worth it for you to test that hair if you have enough of it. Guest guest
My son had his Hep B shot in conjunction with his MMR. One week later, he looked like he had a stroke (lost coordination, previously learned gross and fine motor skills), and suffered from intense, chronic diarrhea (which ended when we put him on the gf/cf diet). He lost eye contact and began isolating after the DPT/Hep B combo five months later. In hindsight, I wonder how I let that Doctor push me into it when I had so much concern? How could I have been so stupid?? OR [ ] How long does it take for Mercury to get into hair? Guest guest
My son's vaccinations dates correspond exactly to your childs. Our son as a baby was normal in every way except: --numerous ear infections during babyhood/toddler --as a young baby, didn't want to be held by his grandmother (I thought he was afraid of her glasses) --at 10 months, wouldn't let a stranger hold him & fussed --at 11 months, couldn't take hearing the fireworks - cried continuously until at home away from the noise. --19 month, could stand hearing a crowd of people at a party-cried horribly until he was in a bedroom away from noise I think over this: Could this have been slow mercury poisoning?? with sensory issues starting first? ---at 20 months, he then became zonked out & lost speech in 1 day & began terrible tantrums, etc, etc, I wish we had more reports about the past children (in research) who were mercury poisoned. In babies, what were the symptoms? What was their outcomes after 5, 10, 20 years? -- Aly -----Original Message-----From: The s [mailto:ldrich@...]Sent: Sunday, October 29, 2000 7:23 AM egroupsSubject: Re: [ ] How long does it take for Mercury to get into hair? Guest guest
My daughter's first symptoms arrived early-on will floppy muscle tone. She was delightful in every way, alert, happy, interactive, but needed physical therapy. Within a week or so after the 12month MMR she began to get ear infections and horrible congestion and was put on antibiotics for nearly a year straight (11 months) during which time she lost her language and her interest in others and seeminly, her hearing and all those other symptoms we are all too familiar with. I think the mercury was an issue before she was even born because of my amalgam fillings and then breastfeeding her for 11months and, of course, all those d-mn shots. I have to wonder if it all didn't kick in after her 2 months DPT when her hair turned from dark brown abruptly to platinum blonde . . . She's such a beautiful and sweet little girl - she didn't deserve the hell she's been through. Sydney's mom [ ] How long does it take for Mercury to get into hair?
