Barb, it's normal. People fall into 3 groups --SVRs (virus undetectable after 6 months), non-responders (no significant drop in VL at 12 weeks so they stop) and temporary responders (VL goes down during tx, but back up after). There is a much higher success rate for 24-wk genotypes than for 48-wk types. It's the 1's who bring down the averages. I've got one more shot on my 48-wk tx and when I talked to the doc last week, he said "Let's hope this works for you." Not a very encouraging statement, huh?

Ok Had my last shot of 24 on Sunday, Called my gastro doc on Monday and they said I needed to go in for CBC LFT and VL, and if VL isn't still clear as it was at 12 weeks I have to do another 24 weeks tx. How often doesn this happen? Do any of you know of anyone who cleared at 12 weeks and then had a recordable VL at 24 weeks? My docs office made it seem like it was expected. Are they just trying to make it easier in case, and then when it turns out good I will feel better about it? Or is this something that happens regularly? I am tired of tx. I have to start on my tx for MS now cause it is geting to where I have more bad times than good with the MS. There is a new drug called Tysabri that is being used now that has done some great things so far for sufferers of MS, and I wanted to get in on trying that one. Barb
