Hey everyone,

last time i posted i was very up set. We have now man a new game plan and i feel

good about it. we are going into to see his one Ortho on

Feb 22 to talk to her about his hip and see if they have got better. I will also

ask her what she thinks about casting affecting his hips and walking and if we

should do a hip/ torso cast.

We have also contacted Shriners and i am waiting to hear back from them. I am

hoping we are going to be able to get in and get another opinion before we go

see his spine ortho on April 27th,this way if our local ortho doesnt want to

cast Thaddeus we can call shriners and get a cast date asap. im feeling a lot

better about everything.. and we have now got thaddeus to walk with a walker(old

lady type walker) at PT and its going well. i wish he wouldnt fight so much but

that just wouldnt be him. he is letting me help him with it at home but its hard

because he does protest all the time. :P

Thanks Everyone for everything. And Thanks to for helping me in the right

direction :)

Great news about the new game plan for lil T. It might be helpful to present

photos of the combo spica/edf cast to the doc, so please feel free to pull them

off of Lilys Story. There are also a couple more mums here on CAST familiar w/

combo casts and may be able to provide you with great info/experience.

Please keep us posted.

That's great news. It is nice to know that more Canadian drs are doing the casting. Keeley Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless handheldFrom: <candice_welch85@...>Sender: infantile scoliosis treatment Date: Wed, 27 Apr 2011 22:05:14 +0000<infantile scoliosis treatment >Reply infantile scoliosis treatment Subject: Thaddeus Update Hey,everything went really well today. We got there early so we could get our xrays done before everyone got there. they did a standing xray this time(1st time) so it definatly looked worse 68*ish. this was the fist time he said anything to us about the roatation and he said it was bad but couldnt give us a degree. we talked about the casting and he want us to go ahead soon so we are trying for may... probably the end of may. he said i will know within the next 2 weeks. Great news!!!Heres the catch... Thaddeus will be the first at BCCH to get a mehta cast!!! OMG!!! this worries me. Dr R used to do the risser cast 10 years ago but saw how it deformed kids ribs so they stopped. He was very against casting but after talking to DR D in SLC his mind changed at the seminar in halifax. he will be following the Mehta rules and will have the cut outs and everything. he will do an over the shoulder cast because he thinks it will help with his rotation.we will change the first cast in 2 months and see how thaddeus does. we may go a bit longer if he does well... because he is older.Thaddeus will have to spend the night in the hospital to make sure everything is ok with the cast. we discussed doing a solid block of cast to get the best benift. I am worried about Thaddeus being the first but i have total Faith in Dr R and think he know what he is doing. he has worked wonders for people so why not us. This could be a great for people in British Columbia Canada as thaddeus will be the pioneer for ET. I belive there will be more poeple who benifit for casting here. I think it would be a good idea to send some Pics to SLC of the cast once its done to make sure everything is ok. Dr R will be Talking with SLC as well to make sure we are doing everything we should be doing. Dr R wants to make sure we are working as a team especially with cast trimming and everything as we wont have all the answers at first.Im feeling really good about everything and cant wait to get our date :)

!

Way to advocate for lil T. ~AND~ other kiddos in BC! This all sounds

sooooo fabulous. If you stay in BC w/ Dr. R. lil T. is certainly the

catalyst/trailblazer for others in the area! The fact that he is

communicating w/ " the man " in SLC is wonderful!

I am really excited for you guys! Please keep us posted on what day in

May so we can all be sending our positive energy your way.

Congrats . I know you have been working on this for a while.
