He is often dirty and smells andhe does not seem to notice until he is told. White poop is indication that stomach bile is not being mixed into the poop. It could be several things that caused. I don't have an immune def. but I had white poop when I had a gall stone blocking my bile duct. I became jaundice and had several test done to figure out what was going on. It was a horrible two weeks b/c I had already had my gall bladder removed so they believed that I no longer had any gall stones to cause a blockage but I always have weird stuff happen. I would call and have them do liver functions test. I had white poop before my urine turned dark and the yellowing started. Good luck and hope he is feeling better. I would also agree that this is worth contacting GI (if Flynn has one) or immunology. And take a sample while you can - sometimes in our house this only lasts for 24 hours. has white stools whenever he has some sort of viral infection - I always mention it to Immunology - they always say " I've never heard of that ! " - then they do a stool culture that shows nothing abnormal, but his bloodwork for Liver Function will show VERY high LFT and ALT. No jaundice or hepatitis.... They get really panicky and we redo the bloodwork in 2 weeks and it is back to normal. We've been through GI and even had a MRI and ultrasound of his liver and all there was normal. Mind you, we did these tests when he was " well " . He has white stools about twice a year - the last was over Christmas when he had pneumonia. And never any discomfort or anything associated with it. The only thing one person (I think GI) thought it could be was that his bile duct " shuts down " for some reason. Again, I'd love to hear what they tell you. Good luck. The probitics seem to have curbed some of the more frequent GI problems, but we still are struggling with them. The stools tend to be this funky color/consistency during or just after a viral/bacterial infection of one kind or another. You had recommended the probiotics for Cole earlier because he takes ABX daily. I heeded your advice and it seems to have helped a bit...if nothing else,it won't hurt! I have a feeling it is something like a bacterial overgrowth following his viral infection or maybe his liver bile ducts shut down during a brief illness for some odd reason. He is following in my 4 year old son's footsteps (also a PIDer). Neither child shows any alarming signs like dark urine output or jaundice. I see he has asthma & GI issues, that could be a missed dx of CF. They may want to run a sweat test to rule it out.
