Guest guest
Hi All, I havent posted in a long time, but I wanted to share an interesting story that I know only CAST parents could appreciate. My daugher Marcela has been cast free and straight for 10 mos. now (ALELUIA!) However, last week, while playing " pony " with her sister, she fell and fractured her elbow. As we are leaving the ER with her, we are given the name of a pediatric orthopedist who we need to see first thing in the morning to get Marci's arm casted. Yes, I know, another cast! Anyway as soon as they give us the name of this doctor, my husband and I look at each other in disbelief--this doc was the same doc who saw marcela 2 years ago when she was first diagnosed with IS. This doc was the one who essentially gave us no hope for our daughter ASIDE FROM RIB IMPLANTS WHEN SHE TURNED 15. Yeah, so you know my hubby and I were STOKED to go see this guy in the morning. Actually, we couldnt wait to let him see Marcela and school him a little bit about her casting. So after Marci got her arm cast put on the next day I say to the doc, " Doctor, this has nothing to do with today, but I was just wondering if you remember our little girl? You saw her 2 years ago? Told us there was nothing we could do? " " I remember. " He says " Yeah well she's scoliosis free now " etc etc, I go on to explain in detail about the treatment.....wanna know what he replies? " Yeah, well......she's straight for NOW. " riiiggghhhhtttt.......unbelieveable. Anyway! Glad I got to give him some valuable info before the big EYEROLL moment(: have a great Day CAST Family, Dianna--you can read Marcela's story at http://www.infantilescoliosis.org/stories/marcelas_story.html
