Guest guest
Sadly I work for the State and well, I could choose other insurance. But, there's no way if I were to choose another that I could afford all the co-pays. I only pay $5 for office visits and $1 for prescriptions and nothing for diagnostic testing. My one voice isn't going to make a change to what Kaiser will cover for state employees. Guest guest
Although I haven't been to Shriner's yet. I know what my insurance benefits are. And I will make sure that Shriner's bills them. If the doctor is in-network, then it gets paid at 100% (but might not be so much since in-network means that they are contracted and have to accept what the insurance sends). However, if the doctor is out-of-network, then my insurance company pays 70% of the charge (which might end up being more than the in-network). In any case, it's about time that the insurance pays (especially since we pay huge into the insurance). SUZY ºOºsuzy3333 In a message dated 1/26/2011 8:45:44 A.M. Guest guest
About 6 years ago, my oldest son needed an implant for his deafness. He has a BAHA implant. The insurance company (we had Oxford at that time) paid 100% for the $15,000 surgery to have the hole drilled into and through my son's skull for the abutment which the external sound processor connects to. However, when it came time for the external sound processor device, they had the nerve to deny the claim for (ready for it? Make sure you're sitting down) "not medically necessary". Like, wtf? You paid for him to get the hole drilled but not for him to hear? So, you paid for a "skull piercing"? Really? I tried to appeal it and got nowhere. I worked my way up the chain at Oxford and finally got so frustrated that I snapped at the last person I spoke with and told them, "I hope the next time you go to purchase a brand new car, they tell you that the engine is not necessary and therefore is not included in the purchase of the car but you can purchase it separately." Anyhow, he did get the sound processor but not with any help from Oxford. I hope these "insurance people" don't ever need the services that they are denying. Although, it would serve them right. There's nothing like karma. SUZY ºOºsuzy3333 In a message dated 1/26/2011 8:42:20 A.M.
