Guest guest
So Pierce got pretty sick late Friday night/early Saturday morning... by Sat morning, his temp was 101.2* with Motrin and his respiratory rate was 64-68/minute. I neb'd him with Albuterol and we took him to the pedi. She said his lungs sounded clear/no wheezing noted. She Rx'd Pediapred (oral steroids). I took him back to the pedi on Monday to have him cleared for Thursday - he said all was well. I called with Dr. K's office because I know some anesthesiologists will see a clear runny nose and put the brakes on it. She called me back today and gave me anesthesia's number to talk to them... well they cancelled his cast because of the steroids. He can't have steroids for 4-6 weeks prior to anesthesia. I asked if breathing treatments were okay and they said yes. I also asked about the flu shot - they said as long as it takes place at a minimum of 2 weeks prior to (good to know). We've been rescheduled for October 28. I am really bummed. I know it was for the best but I am still upset. I feel like I've run around for the last week getting together all sorts of information, scheduling his neurology and geneticist appointments around this, etc and now it feel like a waste. Plus my emotions... they've been running high for the last few days - I have been so nervous over his 1st cast. I guess just not knowing the unknown and the thought of adjusting to life with a cast, etc... but now I can rest for 4 weeks, right?
