could be chronic fatigue syndrome??

Natasa

Hi

I recently had the full thyroid panel done from Genova for my son Aadam.(nhs blood tests came back normal).

The Genova results showed that his free t4:free t3 ratio was low at 2.38(reference range is 3.0-5.0)-Does anyone know what this means?

Aadams paternal grandfather, grandfather and aunt are all on levothyroxine for underactive thyroid.

Aadam is always cold, constipated(I know most of our kids are but he really does need hefty doses of mg and flax seed + milkthistle dly even though we are super strict scd),lethargic/tired at times and always wakes up grumpy/unrefreshed.

many thanks in advance

majidha

ps basal body temperature for the last 3 days- 96.8,96.5 and 97.0

Majda,

Do you have any other results over and above the ratio and if so could

you post them. At least the doctor is taking the free T3 into

consideration which is a plus but I'm afraid only a ratio doesn't give

much info (well at least not to my brain so early in the morning:-))

Your son sounds classic hypothyroid. .

Hi

Aadams NHS test results were-

TSH 1.92 mU/l with a reference range of 0.40-3.50

Free Thyroxine 12.8 pmol/l with a reference range of 10.7-21.8.

Genova test results-

total thyroxine(t4) 102 (ref range 58-154nmol/L)

TSH 1.16(ref range 0.4-4.0 mIU/L)

Free Thyroxine(T4) 14.9(ref range 10-22 pmol/L)

Free T3 6.27(ref range 2.8-6.5 pmol/L)

Free T4:T3 ratio 2.38(ref range 3.0-5.0)

Thyroid Auto Immunity

-thyroglobin <20.0(ref range 0-40 IU/mL

-peroxidase(microsomal <10.0(ref range0-35 IU/mL

any advice much appreciated

ps I was wondering whether it would be worth testing urinary t3/t4 or checking

urinary iodine levels?
