Guest guest
Kieran has developed two cold sores on his upper lip, which have merged into one - may not sound very drastic, but he has a real issue with the idea of any imperfection on his body, particularly his face. He whines and squeals repeatedly about it, and cant/wont do anything becuase he is so pre-occupied with them. I used to get cold sores as a child, and remember how painful and itchy they can be, and also tempting to touch. I have managed to get zovirax cream on them, but this is a trauma for him as he also does not like the texture of cream on his body. The only way I can get him to stop touching the sores is to put something on the tv for him, and he eventually gets a bit distracted, and just touches them occassionally, rather than being on a mission to touch them all the time. His distress seems to have caused him to display much more sensory behaviours overall, and he is making bellowing noises at times, although he is a verbal child. It has been very noticeable in the last two weeks that he is talking much less, and isolating himself more - maybe he was carrying an illness and is run down, hence the eruption of cold sores? Any bio-med ideas welcomed. Would vit A protocol be of any use? Thanks Sue
