I HATED diapering in the brace.  I potty trained because of it!  Cole was a bit over 2.  SO I guess I can not help much with diapering since I failed at it with the brace lol.  In terms of pants I get the ones with the adjustable waist bands and they work well for us.  Also my new found love is baby legs! they might work well for you.

Pretty much I always had Grace in leggings. Jeans or other "non-stretchy" fabrics just were/are a no go. I also would put the diaper on THEN the brace. Of course this requires taking the brace off with every diaper change, but in our case, since Grace doesn't urinate very often, it was the best for us.

Londynn has been in a brace since Thanksgiving - and it has gone exceptionally well, it must be molded perfectly for her, as she never complains about it, or cries when we put it back on after bath time. My question is - How do you keep bottoms from slipping off the brace and the diaper staying tucked up under the brace - with her bottoms sliding down and her diaper riding low - she often is exposing her tiny hiney. Any suggestions would be greatly appretiated. Thanks,Cyndy - (Londynn - turns 2 on Sunday - 4 casts, 1st brace down from 45* to 0*)

We use suspenders:) I have a good web site if u want it. They make some really

cute designs. We also wear alot of overalls. These 2 items help my little guy

who is potty trained be able to manipulate his clothes. As for diapers, we put

them all the way under the brace (sorta a pain). We tried attaching them over

the brace... We have a boy so it didn't work so well, but you could try that- or

try pullups which also prooved too leaky for us but might work for you. Glad

it's a smooth bracing transition:) always makes life a bit easier!

Glad it is going well for her. As far as diapering I always took the brace off to put a diaper on. It may seem like more work(and maybe it was), but it worked for us. It was never a major big deal to me. 's brace was molded so well there was no way I could have tucked it up under the brace.

Clothing-we never had much of a problem with the brace. Not as much as the cast. 's brace was molded where he had an hour glass shape so pants/shorts held right at his hips very nicely. Wish I had better advice for a girl.

TashaMommy of 5 year old twin boys- and Fort Worth, Texas is treated at Texas ish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas. After being treated in a series of 6 casts for 14 months he is now in a brace and has been since September 2007.

EARLY Treatment does work if done properly.

My daughter is 8, but we use elastic waist pants and bought larger underwear so

that it goes over the brace. We had tried putting velcro on the outside of the

brace so she could wear tights, but she didn't like it, can't remember why.

dresses would be good if you are in a warm climate. we used overalls with the

last brace so now she hates overalls and won't wear them.

I had the same problem with my son's pants not staying up. I've tried sewing velcro into his pants and placing it on his cast with no luck. I also bought pants that have adjustable waist bands, again no luck. However, I found this website that sells a belt that is perfect for all our little ones that are either casted or braced. Basically it's a 4 inch piece of elastic with clips on each end. So, how it works is you place the "belt" on the back of the pants and gather up some fabric and clip it into the end of the "belt". It's awesome, I wish I found it a year ago! The website is called Smartie Pants Shop.
