, I will keep in my prayers. One of my husband's

friends is going through the same thing. They just found out that he

has a severe case of apnea and he is in his 40's. They are going to

remove tonsils adenoids and do

a sinus scrape. Keep us posted on upcoming appointments.

BTW, how's the weather in Georgia. We have about an inch of snow on

the ground and it is still coming down! I just love it! Being in the

south,. this is a real treat!!:) mom to Landon (Ds) and Ashton

Hi Everyone,

I've been keeping up with all the posts & my thoughts are with you all.

Would you all Ppease keep in your prayers tomorrow morning? She's

having tubes inserted into her ears. Even though this is fairly routine,

it's still general anaesthetic, so it's a bit scarey. Steph will be 15 in a

couple of weeks & these are her first set of tubes. I'm hoping it will

improve her communication skills, but we'll see.

& Leah - I think of you both every day & am still praying for you.

- Hugs to you & . Like the others, I hope this info will help

find some answers for you.

Ginny - It's great to meet another leukemia survivor. Congrats to you &

. Welcome to the list. (Steph had ALL, dx'd when she was 6 - 3

yrs. of chemo) It feels good to say " Steph HAD ALL "

Dawn & - Have a great trip & be safe!

- Thanks for the info re the TV show. I'll try to watch it.

Congrats on your case study!

Bye for now,

(from Waterloo, Canada - near Toronto)

I don't know if this came through yesterday or not, but despite my

having a surgery date for this Friday, and despite the fact that my

insurance company told na yesterday that it was a " go " and all

approved, and gave an approval number, 3 hours later, they called back

and said that only the hernia repair is approved not the panni!

I'm on th ephone literally all day today, fighting with people.

Please pray for my sanity!

So---here is the big question, guys.

I guess my choice, as it stands now, is:

A: Let Ed take my Friday appt, I take his Dec 18th appt-and I continue to

fight like all hell to get this approved before then. (I have already

switched with Ed, but, being the great guy he is, he told me that if I

wanted to switch back that would be fine, too!)

B: Have the hernia only part of the surgery this Friday, and then fight

like hell to get the panni part approved to be done at a later date. (the

Hernia really is bothering me-I must wear a new binder all the time.Even

in bed. When I take it off, even when I'm laying down in bed, within

about 3 mintues I'm aching and must get it back on again.

C: " private pay " the panni part-total of about 6300. Not exactly sitting

around in petty cash for me to take out and put towards this.

I guess I'm asking you all if those who have been through it would do it

in two stages or would put up with the pain and hopefully be able to do

it all at once.

Suggestions???

-the confused and very disgusted with insurance person!

...I would try like heck to do it in one surgery. That means

one post-op period and besides if you go back to do just the panni

it will cost you even more out of your pocket.

I'd take Ed's surgery date...fight like heck and if I didn't have an

answer or if the answer was no by that date...then I'd private pay

if I had to.

who did private pay and it was worth every penny

Hi

I am going to give you my 2 cents...lol

I was not approved (even for the hernia repair) by my insurance. So

I kept my surgery date and appealed. They promised to get back to me

in 15 days...they didnt. I went forward with my surgery, because if

they do approve you at a later date you will be reimbursed.

I have UnitedHealthcare. I had my surgery 6 mos ago and am still

appealing their denials of " its cosmetic, and we dont cover

cosmetic " . I do not regret having the surgery (it meant taking from

our retirement- until I get reimbursed...)

I dont know that I would have gone back for another surgery if I had

it in 2 parts. But that is just me. I wanted it done and over

with. Mine was more extensive than yours will be, as I had outer

thighs removed too. They were tripping me and causing lower back

pain, and messed up my gait. I do not regret my decision...I am

still fighting, and they havent seen the last of me.

I feel great, my back doesnt hurt anymore, no more rashes, and I have

a very flat tummy...It is great.

I wouldnt give up my surgery date, and I wouldnt go down without a

fight. I hope this helps.

Sharon in Onyx

who is still fighting, but would do it again in a New York

Minute...even tho I have never been to NY!

Oh ...sometimes I just HATE the way insurance companies like to play with

our lives! I'm sorry for your troubles and have no sage advice, except I

would always do one surgery instead of two, given the choice! I hope it all

works out. Hugs and blessings, Ann

Dear Sharon,

Vitamin C is a miracle for sinus problems. The best Vitamin C I know comes from the Vitamin Shoppe. It is their brand and their Ester-C 2000. It's a powder and tastes really good in fresh orange or grapefruit juice.

Also, the biggest mucus-makers are starches and dairy. When I became vegan, my life-long sinus problems were gone in 2 days, never to return. I don't even get colds anymore, and that's 32 years ago.

with Love,

Francine

Hi everybody, I dont get to post often but I do read yours and am so glad to know there are other parents out there that can relate to my day to day struggles. My eleven year old autistic daughter has been so sick for the last couple of weeks with constant sinus infections and will haveing surgery on October,11 to hopefully clear up the stuff that is clogged in there and stop all the infections, it seems that her sinus cavities are very small and do not drain properly. She will be twelve in January and is only four feet tall and still wears a little girls size two shoes and it is really weird to me cause my son Adam,(not autistic) will be nine in a couple of weeks is already five feet two and wears a mens shoe size nine and a half. People think he is the older brother. My Mom always told me when I was a child that I couldnt find a happy medium in anything I do, LOL I guess she was right. I am rambling off subject but I am not looking forward to the surgery and yall please pray for her because she wont be able to understand fully what is happening to her. And her doctor says it could take up to two weeks to recouperate. Sharon

p.s. My daughter (Aspergers) is 4' 7" and my son is 6' 4". Her half-sisters are around 5' 2" to maybe 5' 4" -- and her half-brother about 5' 8". I remember hearing years ago that kids with 'mental difficulties' could be small. That it wasn't unusual.

Charlotte, Nothing has ever been said about hormone testing because her doc thinks that her height is ok because she has a Grandmother that is only five feet tall. I only asked Sharon because my son has a rare hormone

disorder and after an x ray we discovered his bone age was 2 years delayed. He

caught up pretty fast once they started hormone therapy. However if she has

been on the same growth curve all of her life than your probably right and it

is an inherited height. It is usually when they drop off their own growth

curve that it indicates a problem.

She has always been shorter than most kids her age but there was a concern with her docs for a while about her weight gain because at ten years old she was up to 115 pounds but she will be twelve in January and has started slimming down some now and is down to 102 So now her doctor isnt complaining about her weight anymore.
