Guest guest
Hello,Noah has been treatment free for 6 months now. His doc in SLC wanted him to have a 6 month follow-up x-ray taken locally to make sure he did not progress without his brace. We had his x-ray this morning at Minneapolis Shriners. It looks good to me. There is definately still a curve, but if I were a betting women...I'd say it appears to be about the same as the one taken six months ago. Unfortunately, the Shriners hospitals are not linked x-ray-wise so I wasn't able to compare the two. But from mine and my husband's memory it appears similar to last time when he measured 8* and 8*.So the next step is for me to mail it off to SLC for measurement. If the SLC doc thinks it looks good - I imagine we'll continue with his plan which was to go another 6 months treatment free (hooray!) And then travel to SLC in the late spring for a one year follow-up exam and x-ray.~Noah 5 years old9 months of casting in SLC; 2 1/2 years of bracing; Currently treatment-free at 8*And Mariella 1 yr old - resolved Infantile Scoliosis

Guest guest
So sorry. Its scary to have them cast/brace free isn't it? We go back in 6 weeks to see if Isaiah is holding. He was at 9 degrees out of cast and has not been braced. No rotation is great though! I think that's worse than the actual curve progression. I hope the next set of xrays shows he's holding and you won't need a new brace. Borlik <christina_borlik@...> wrote: > >Hello,Well, we finally heard back from SLC. And although it's not necessarily bad news...I wouldn't consider it great news either. The doc measured him at 13* and 14* (6 months ago his curves were 8* and 8*.) The doc is not seeing any rotation and considers Noah to still be " stable. " He said there is no need to put him back in a brace at this point. >He'd like us to have another x-ray taken locally again in 6 months and we'll again ship it to SLC for review. He said there's no need to come out there if that x-ray looks good. If there's progression though then we'll need to come out for a new brace as Noah's old brace would be over a year old and would not fit. >I guess we'll just have to wait and see where were at again in 6 months. Guest guest
,Although I dream of those numbers at this point, I'm sure I would be worried, you never want to go backward! I'm sure Noah will be fine but just trying to say I get it : ) It's such a long road but you have come so far!!! Enjoy your holiday and try not to worry.Heidi, Bexon's Mommy, (3 years old, in 8th cast from Salt Lake City Shriners, currently down from 62 degrees to 20 in cast. Noah has been completely brace-free for 1 full year now. We stopped bracing May '10 at 8* and 8*. We had an x-ray taken locally here in Minneapolis at the 6 month point and he measured 13* and 14*. Well it's been another 6 months so we went to Minneapolis Shriners today for our latest round of x-rays. We did not meet with any docs there, so I do not know his measurements yet. I fed-exed the x-ray to Salt Lake and will call them to follow-up next week. The x-ray looked "ok" to me. I had them bring up the one taken 6 months ago and line it up next to the one taken today. They look approximately the same. If I had to guess though...I'd say he might be a few degrees worse. It's so difficult to tell and even though I've seen too many x-rays in my lifetime already! (Lol) I'm still not a doc...so I guess maybe I should be more optomistic. I guess I'm just scared as it would be VERY difficult to leave the brace-free lifestyle. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.~Noah 5 years old - 9 months of casting in SLC & 2 1/2 years of bracing.
