Guest guest
Really? She didnt look at you like you were crazy! Thats great news for Audrey and ET. Thanks for sharing that with us. ET is the way to go and Im glad the ped. is on the same page. She can be a great advocate for lil Audrey and its a relief to hear she is on board the fast moving ET train. Excellent. Guest guest
Hello, I hope you can get in to see Dr R at BCCH soon. We will be there nov 30( 5 months since our last visit :S) I just wanted to mention that he probably won't do much at the first visit... She is still really young so he might say get a brace. Also I wanted to say if you do go ahead with the brace the Ortho in Vancouver is very good but it is expensive. If you don't have extended medical the brace will be $2150.00 and even with pharmacare the Gov will never pay he full amount, they will only cover $1700 after you family deductible has been met. We have been waiting for 2 months to get Thaddeus' second brace approved... I know it's taking forever because they don't want to pay their part STUPID!!!!!! If casting is what you really want to do I would send you info to a Shriners hospital because it might be a few months. I'll let you know what Dr R says about casting and the training he is going to.. Hey maybe we will see you here Mommy to Thaddeus Sent from my iPhoneOn Nov 4, 2010, at 1:20 PM, heather@... wrote: Really? She didnt look at you like you were crazy! Guest guest
Thanks for the info! We've got extended health, thankfully, so if we wind up with a brace, it should be mostly covered. Although I imagine we'll have to pay, then claim it. *sigh* Is the brace helping with Thaddeus' curve? Can I ask why you're not casting? I don't want Audrey casted if she doesn't need it, but on the other hand, I don't want to just wait and watch her back get worse either, if you kwim. BTW, checked out your little guy's pics in the photos - he's too cute!!! > > > Really? She didnt look at you like you were crazy! Thats great news for > > Audrey and ET. Guest guest
We were going to go with casting but Thaddeus has low muscle tone and still isn't walking at 21 months. We have got some correction in his brace but he is hold at about 40 * ( that was 5'months ago) his back looks great when the brace comes off but think that is from the core muscles getting stronger. We are currently doing pool Phsyio witch is really helping so as long as he is holding we won't cast. If Dr R starts casting at bcch then we may go ahead I'm still not sure.. We will go down that path when it comes. It's great you have extended health !!! I wish we did but that is a down side to owning a business. Let us know what you decide... Audrey saw the ped again today as we're still waiting for an appointment with the ortho. The ped was able to clearly see the rotation that's going on just on examination. She pointed out that Audrey's ribs on the concave side are flattening and on the convex side they're bulging. She wants Audrey to see the ortho by the end of the month or we'll start exploring other options. She didn't want to take another set of films just now. The ped is on the same page as me with not wanting to take a wait-and-see approach, and actually tried calling the ortho while I was there in her office. The ortho's office is closed this week, so the ped says she'll call on Monday and really push for Audrey to be seen promptly. I mentioned casting to her and possibly skipping BCCH and applying straight to a Shriners' hospital if we don't get in to see an ortho by the end of the month, and she didn't look at me like I was crazy! She agreed that casting is the best treatment method for progressive infantile scoliosis, and that the earlier it's treated, the better. So that was good On an unrelated front, I've got a chunky monkey on my hands She's 15 wks old and weighs 16 lbs 10oz - above the 95th %ile! Guest guest
that's great that the brace is working for Thaddeus Does he like the pool? Audrey loves it, and it's much easier to sneak in her stretches in the pool. I'll definitely keep you posted le > > > Audrey saw the ped again today as we're still waiting for an appointment with the ortho.
