Guest guest
Hi Everyone , My son Brennan had his first appt at Greenville Shriners last Tue Nov 30th , Dr P told us he has a 77 degree left thoracic curve that is flexible and he is going to cast him, however informed my husband and I that casting Bren at this point with a 77 degree curve would only help prevent the curve from progressing , He said he may get some amount of correction but more than likely Bren would end up having the VEPTR surgery in Columbia SC around the age of 8 - 10 yrs old give or take .. Brennan will get a MRI on Dec 10th but Dr P did say it is idiopathic as of now.. I asked about the RVAD measure and the assistant w/ Dr P had no clue what i was talking about and kept referring back to the VEPTR surgery for some reason or another. Is it possible to get a full correction with such a severe curve ? I know Dr P told us two good things we got going for us was one Brennans age ( he just turned a yr old ) and two was that his spine is flexible. Their supposed to be calling this week or next to give us a casting date. Im just hoping and praying this casting procedure is gonna work for Brennan , I have so many questions and i feel like im definetly in the right place to get answers, Everyone has been so generous and for that i thank you all .
