Risperdol had started losing its effect to help my child with her anger

management, SIB, and temper tantrums that have escalated since she hit

puberty last year. I couldn't give anything over 1.5mg as she's become

zombie-like and look for dark places to hide. She also kept complaining of

" water in the head " which I associated with head pressure. Lastly she

started getting terrible facial tics. The neuro suggested Seroquel, but

after a few days on it she actually got worse....attacking her teachers in

the class and flying off the handle even when engaged in a relaxing or fun

activity. Or she'd get really silly, hyperactive, making lots of weird

noises and perseverating verbally really terribly.

Keeping her on the Houston enzymes, using milk thistle and activated

charcoal really seemed to help. She's been off Seroquel since Thursday and

the weqaning process is going better than it did when we got her off

Risperdol (she was a screaming meemie!). Drinking lots of water also seems

to help. We plan to keep her medicine free for awhile longer and see how she

does.

puberty is awful for our girls isn't it...?

so are you saying that you are hoping do be medicine

free, and just use the enzymes? wow, i'd love that!

i have mine on depakote while weaning off of

risperdol, (upped the depakote for seizures to make up

for the risperdol), and want to start getting her off

the depakote also. have heard lots of progress seen

when off of epilepsy meds.
