What to Expect When First Cast is Removed?

Just wondering if anyone can tell me about how how many degrees difference to

expect when the first cast is removed. What I mean is, if my baby's curve is 17

degrees in her first cast and was 48 degrees before the cast was applied, how

much of that correction will usually hold? I realize that she won't be 17 out

of cast when it is removed. But, in your experiences, was there quite a bit of

correction with the first cast? I know that this differs with each child. I am

just trying to get an estimate of what to expect. Does the first cast usually

give more correction than the following casts give?

- , Mom of Abby (15 months) - 48 degrees down to 17 degrees in

first cast
