Hi All! Hope everyone is doing well. Haven't posted in a while but try to read

and keep up with everyone when i can.

Chloe got cast #8 a couple of weeks ago at Chicago Shriners. We ended up going

about a month early. she had a terrible poop accident up the back and they had

to take it off early. we got lucky that it came off on a thurs and linda had

them squeeze us back in the next tues!

anyway, we are in the same place as after cast #1. she can get to about 10 in

cast, right back to 50 out of cast.

Dr. S. had wanted to keep her in the cast to buy time but feels she definitely

will need surgery. he suggested VEPTR.

We met Dr. H this last time and he agrees that surgery is most likely in her

future and would like to buy time. however, he emphasized that casting is for

correction and that she has been in a cast for almost 2 years (in March it will

be). he said he would like to do 1 or 2 more casts and then try a brace and see

if that would hold her too.

i am open to trying it but just can't imagine that she'll get as straight in a

brace.

so, finally, to the point 5 paragraphs later! has anyone else's child worn a

brace just to buy time and hold a curve and if so, did the curve stay the same

or get worse?

thanks!

Celeste (mom to Chloe, 3 yrs old in cast #8 from Chicago Shriners, also

Chromosome 6q Deletion Syndrome).
