Audrey's full physio assessment

Audrey saw the PT who will be her regular PT today and had a fuller assessment

done. It went really well. The good news is that Audrey is scoring right on

the 50% for development of her motor skills, so her curvature isn't slowing her

development. The " bad news " is there's definitely rotation as well as curving

going on.

The PT noted that Audrey " collapses into a right side flexion " when sitting

supported and when prone, and that she has 3 obvious creases in her right

thoracic area, plus one deep crease in her lumbar/sacral area that goes right

across. She's got restricted range of motion into left side flexion and right

side rotation, and very slight increase of flexor movements on the right

side/arm.

She did say there were no signs of neurological involvement from the assessment

- Audrey's tone is even.

Basically, Audrey is curving towards her right (left convex curve) and at the

same time twisting towards her left. She has trouble turning her head or body

to the right.

So on top of the positioning stuff, we now have some gentle exercises to do with

her, basically encouraging her to stretch those stiffer muscles.

She sees the ped tomorrow and I'm going to push for an updated set of x-rays so

we can see whether there are changes in her curve, as we still don't even have

an appointment date to see the ortho. I spoke to the ortho's receptionist, and

she says she will call us within the next week or so to book an appointment, but

she had no idea how long it would be until the appointment (could be weeks or

months).

I know someone mentioned in an earlier post that Montreal Shriners is now doing

Mehta casting - can anyone confirm this?
