Hi Virginia,

My daughter was very much the same as your son, she had severe but silent

reflux, which meant that it wasnt until close to her first birthday that we

finally found out what was going on. Our nights were as you described they are

for you and Jonathon. With all the walking I did each night boy did I loose my

pregnancy weight quick smart! By the time she was diagnosed and started on meds

at around 14 months the worst was pretty much over. It took until she was 2 yo

for things to settle and the nights to become sane, but it did eventually pass!

was diagnosed with GERD and alkaline reflux, also hiatial hernia and

has been on Zantac long term. We did need to switch to Losec last year for a

time when things were pretty bad for him and there was blood in the reflux. I

dont really know how well the Zantac now works for him seeing he still

refluxes regularly, many times throughout the day. (Would he be worse without

the med?) Last week his dr doubled his Zantac dose, deciding if this doesnt

help settle things down a little (the past month has seen the refluxing grow

worse than normal) he'll need to switch over to the the Losec permanently.

Is Jonathon on any meds to help with his reflux? And if so, have they helped at

all?
