Guest guest
Tasha,My thoughts and prayers are with you both. This has got to be so hard for both of you! Wish I had something more to offer you....unfortunately the brace was one of the hardest parts of Matson's rod surgery, so I am at a loss, but love and hugs are sent your way. You are an amazing momma and your nature and faith I so admire. Tonight he did ask if he could sleep without it, but did not throw a fit when I said no. We have an appt tomorrow afternoon for a brace check/adjustment. All I know is he does not like this brace. He use to play outside even with his old brace on. Now when I put it on during the day he wants to just stay in the house, usually laying down or he stands up playing with his cars. I know a brace is not going to feel like an old tshirt, but shouldn't it at least be tolerable??? That part under his arm, on one side, just looks too high. And the whole darn brace looks crooked to me. Cyndy, funny you mentioned that about a support group with other kids. I was thinking last night I would call his doctor's nurse to see if she can connect us with some boys his age. And it doesn't have to be with scoliosis. , our appt is not until 3:30. Sorry I didn't call earlier. Will you still be there that late in the afternoon? We may get there early so the boys can play at the park, but it wouldn't be any earlier than 3pm. I can't think you all enough for your support and great ideas about talking to . I will update tomorrow. And any comments about brace fit are greatly appreciated!!!! I have just spent the last 30-45 minutes trying to make understand how important his brace is. He cried and cried because he did not want to put it on for bed. He continued over and over again saying how unfair it is that (twin brother)does not have to wear a brace and he does. And why did God make him this way? OUCH! If you know me you know I have a strong faith, but I was clueless as to what to tell him. We talked and talked until I finally got him settled down enough to go to sleep. He HATES this new brace! He has tolerated it off and on now since we got it about 3 weeks ago(I think??). I am calling tomorrow to go back to make sure this is indeed fitting correctly. **, we just may see you guys on Friday** Send me your number just in case. Anyway I have cried and realize there is not much I can do for him at this point. I have heard as they get older it gets harder. And I am here to tell you that is so true! For us it is! Sorry to be such a downer, but needed to get this off my chest. And needed to talk to other parents who will understand. Guest guest
I am glad you are going today Tasha. If he can't do his normal activities in the new brace after a few weeks, then they need to take a look at it. Maybe she can make a few adjustments. Let me know how it goes.
