, I don't know about using the salts causing vaginitis but my

daughter loves to take a bath in Epsom salts. She takes an Epsom bath about

once a week. I wonder what is in the Epsom salts that she loves about it. I

give her Epsom salt baths more if she doesn't feel good. It seems to bring a

fever down but maybe its just the water and when she is on her period it

seems to ease her cramps. I think it is her cure all . I thought I was the

only one to use them. If you find out it causes vaginitis please let me

know too. Sincerely, Donna

Dear Listmates,

I posted this question to another group but have not received

any responses yet. Does anyone know if continual use of Epsom salts in

bath water can change the PH level in the vagina and cause vaginitis? My

daughter Kate, 12, has been asking to " soak up in the bathtub " everyday

for the past week and I have been using the salts...only about 1 cup.

She developed vaginitis but I'm not sure if it is from the bath. She

soaks in clean, not soapy water. She did have a treatment of antibiotics

for strep throat, so originally I thought it was from this. Any

thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

I haven't had this problem with my autistic daughter, but her older

sister had a vaginitis problem when she was going through puberty. I

tried everything, going over hygene, what foods she was eating, and we

even microwaved her underwear (for 15sec.) to kill bacteria (I read

that in a magazine). What I finally ended up doing was homeopathic. I

had her take cantharis, 30C, at the first sign of symptoms. She

reported that it worked and eventually she outgrew this problem (it

took about 2 or 3 years). She also drank plenty of water and sometimes

cranberry juice.

Dear ,

I was leaning towards the antibiotics causing the vaginitis in

, just wanted to make sure I wasn't causing further problems by

having her soak in the bath everyday. She really seems to need this to

calm herself down after school.

Thanks ,
