Guest guest
With it being this close, I doubt you'd be able to get in as he would have to be sedated. That usually takes some doing to get it scheduled. If you think its do-able, I would definitely try. In my experience, it is better "safe than sorry". If you aren't able to get it done, I would just ask that the doctor not put as much effort into getting as LOW of number as he can until you can get the MRI done. I am wondering though that since he was diagnosed with Scoliosis, why didn't they just extend the MRI down his spine when he had one? Pierce is scheduled for his eval/consult next Wednesday and cast next Thursday. From your experience, how important is it for us to have a spinal MRI beforehand? Is it worth me pushing our pedi to write the orders and getting strings pulled for the MRI and results to be in my hands before we leave for Alabama early Wednesday morning?I'm starting to get a bit anxious knowing that the date is drawing nearer. We see his pedi tomorrow for his 9 month checkup. We've seen 3 orthos locally (New Orleans) and not one has mentioned an MRI. The first 2 acted as though his scoliosis wasn't a big deal. The 3rd one actually cared about what he saw! He said his RVAD concerned him. Please give me your advice! I feel lost...Also, his GI referred us to a neurologist. We see her on October 6th. His brain MRI and CT scan both came back normal. I feel a bit overwhelemed with all of this. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Since the brain MRI was okay.... You might be fine. I know parents on the site have mixed feelings about MRI before casting (and so do I). However it may be a good idea since you are having issues with head growth... Do you know in the MRI of the brain if it included any of the neck region? I know when Ben had an MRI on his spine it actually showed some info that could have been causing part of the head growth..... (something with the exit veins for csf fluid at the base of his neck) It wasn't an issue that caused additional problems but something that needed to be looked at. Why don't u maybe call the neuro or even the ortho and leave a message of concern and see what they think? Did u end up going to see dr B in new Orleans ? If so, I have his nurses number and email. Good luck. You will be fine. If u go to the apt. And there are concerns that need to be addresses u can always delay casting a couple weeks.... No big deal, right.
