Guest guest
I have scoliosis. A few years ago I went to see Mr Nordeen at STanmore, he sent me to two plastic surgeons who said I was too risky to have a big operation on the rib hump. My rib hump does stick out quite a bit and causes pain. I went for an xray at Stanmore before seeing Mr Nordeen again after the two visits to the plastic surgeons, the lady in the x-ray department said I should insist on an MRI scan as an xray isn't detailed enough. I went into Mr Nordeens office, he said as the plastic surgeon couldn't do anything he couldn't do any more! He didn't even show me the xray or give me a chance to mention the MRI scan! I was quite upset.Last year my GP sent me to a pain clinic, all she could suggest was morphine, no MRI scan then either! All I was offered was a type of leather jacket to wear, a bit awkward to wear under or over clothes especially when I go out!All I really want is some injection on my hump, I had one many years ago, or if not perhaps some type of lint or something to put over the rib hump to stop it rubbing, an MRI scan would be nice so I can see what is happening as well as the Drs if no more can be done!!My Dr has now referred me to another spoecialist Mr Malloy at Stanmore, however he has come back to my GP saying he can't deal with my case and Mr NOrdeen is a good surgeon (I don't want surgery!!!) He has also mentioned another specialist in the hospital who may be able to help, not sure if he will see me either yet!.I am seeing my GP to discuss this on Tuesday, what should I do next, I am prepared to pay private just to have all the scans, I just want a specialist to explain things properly and do something to manage my pain properly.Sorry for the long post, many thanks Hope you are OKI.Liz
