We are feeling really encouraged and ready to start casting. The doctor confirmed no abnormalities and said Kiya was a an ideal candidate for Mehta casting. He feels confident we will see great results as long as there are no other neurological issues. MRI was negative and Kiya tests at age level in all areas or above except for gross motor. She has yet to fully walk independently by herself, she will go up to 4 or 5 feet by herself and then stops. She is 21 months and has some low muscle tone issues in her ankles. We are getting her fitted for ankle braces tomorrow and her PT thinks she will be off and running in no time as she at this time is just lacking stability. We feel relieved to know what we are up against and that it is in fact idiopathic scoliosis. We are anxiously awaiting our first cast date. We are praying for September but they weren't sure if that would happen. So we have our fingers crossed and are saying our prayers. We are ready to start our journey to straight and we are so grateful for Shriner's Chicago. The staff was all so great.
