Guest guest
I'm walking on sunshine and don't it feel good! Well to be honest I want nothing to do with the sunshine here in Texas, but that is what came on the radio as soon as we got in the car leaving the hospital today. And it was a GOOD day! The numbers(not that they mean anything)=6 months ago 21 degrees and TODAY 17 degrees!!!!! His doctor, which BTW was very different today, started out by saying he looked really good. He told me the measurements and the variance involved and went on to say who knows what happened. He said the last xray could have been bad positioning(I KNEW IT!....last appt I even made a comment about this because the xray tech had face the wall and hold his arms around the board......they had never had him do that). He also said he could have actually improved or the variance thing again. I thought the xray from today did look a little better....he agreed. He felt that if we had come in today and he measured 25 degrees well then yes, he is progressing. BUT he does not feel this way!!!!!! BIG SMILE! OK Joan, where is our sons' doctor? This is what threw me.......he went on to say, " is a growing boy.....let him be one. If he wants his brace off to do something fun, "Take it off!" He actually told me to, "Lighten up Mom" ****The only reason I think he said any of this is because he knows how strict I am with brace wear.**** And it made me feel so good that he was looking out for to be a kid. Truly it did. He was a different doctor today. He also kinda gave me the option to continue on with what we are doing or easing up. BUT made it clear the work we went through with casting and bracing and did not want us to loose any ground. Game plan-continue with 16 hours a day and offer freedom when really worth it. Thank you all for supporting me through this and everyday. Oh I almost forgot..... IS getting a new brace. We'll pick it up in 3 weeks. His orthotist said he was borderline as far as needing a new one so I pushed for a new one. He picked camo......., he has wanted camo since he got the picture of Noah in his brace. Anyway it was a good day and on our way out we celebrated with ish Rite's famous popcorn! I guess we celebrate every appt then. LOL! Heidi, I think this is from you and continued saying it in my head on the drive home as I went through this journey in my mind.....Slow and steady wins the race! He will win one day, but today we will live and play!
