Guest guest
, I do occasionally grab a sub (whole wheat roll, from Subway...I don't know what Quizno is!), but my problem even there is that I don't eat meat, so I have to get a veggie sub (the tuna has WAY too much fat in the mayo), and for protein, I have to add cheese to it. Arghhh!!! Jami > Jami, How about the occasional Sub or Quizno when you are on the go? I often > rely on them but admittedly, I always ditch half of the bread roll. > Leaner. Guest guest
Jami, I know what it is like being on the go and trying to eat. I have been in training all week for work. We have been outdoors with no time for breaks for 4 hours at a time. I was not able to have water or my bars during that time. My body is rebelling. I'll be glad when this week is over and I can go back to doing my regular job with my regular routine again. The training has been great by the way. Well worth the sacrifices. :-) ~Laury
Guest guest
What kind of training, Laury? You can't even have a bottle of water by your side? That's a drag! I can at least keep a glass of seltzer (w/lime) under my stand at my gig this week! A new " fast food " I've seen popping up around the city is edamame, which is steamed soybeans still in the pod. Great source of protein and low in carbs. Yum! Peace, Jami > Jami, > I know what it is like being on the go and trying to eat. I have been in > training all week for work. Most of the time, taking a break is not an option. Today we did simunations drills using guns that are like paint ball shooters that have a different, but still non lethal, ammo in them. Those things pack a whollop though. I have bruises and cuts all over me from getting hit. Good training but a real eye opener for all of us. Being in shape was definitely an advantage for me. Now I just want to soak in a warm tub. :-) ~Laury
Guest guest
Can't remeber who asked about the Subway sandwiches but yes they are OK. Hold the cheese, oil and mayo, and add some extra meat - or ask for double meat. .

I was wondering about those subs!! I had one over the weekend and looked at it and said, I think I can have this on my on day!! I was going to ask if anyone was eating them. It's a good meal if you on the run and need to pick something up quik. Ricky
Guest guest
Also , the wraps are quite good...ask for double meat, etc-and it's a great light meal! :-)
Guest guest
A double meat 6 " subway club on whole wheat works out to about 500 calories (be sure to get ALL the veggies), low fat, and 1:1 carb:protein ration. I get one, cut it in half and use it for 2 mini- meals. Also, the honey mustard dressing is good, adds only 20 calories and no fat. BTW, I'm not Jarrod <g>. Guest guest
The downside to Subway subs is the bread. Their 'wheat' bread is not whole wheat and actually has more carbs and calories than their white italian bread. > > Can't remeber who asked about the Subway sandwiches but yes they > are OK. > > Hold the cheese, oil and mayo, and add some extra meat - or ask for > double > > meat. . > > I was wondering about those subs!! Guest guest
Be careful with that seafood and crab salad as it's loaded with mayonnaise. If you check the website, you'll see that nearly 50% of the calories in that salad come from FAT! > > > > Subject: Re: Re: Subs > > > Also , the wraps are quite good...ask for double meat, etc-and it's a great > > light meal! :-) > > Aloha, > Subway also makes salads (lots of iceberg lettuce; dull but filling) and their dressings are non-fat. I had a seafood & crab salad on Saturday, and it was great. The corporate website offers nutritional analysis of all their sandwiches and subs.
