Guest guest
you brought up a good point about " uneducated people. " its true- any surgery is a risk. being put under is a risk- having a c section is a risk. but people dont see that. they feel because we make this choice- its different. it isnt. medicine today is so advanced- you dont see people dying like they used to because the surgery is just about perfected. we are at risk when we walk out our front door everyday and it pisses me off too when people think they know what the hell they are talking about. vicki ******************************** Vicki - I was thinking about how to word what I have been experiencing the last week with comments coming my way and you post is right on. Two different friends, separately, made comments about my " elective " surgery this week...at the time the word kind of hung in the air . Later when I thinking about why the term bugged me or seemed strange, I thought they think b/c I am " choosing " to have this surgery that this is somehow my own doing... and maybe they are less sympathetic.... or maybe there is a tone of being judgemental.... but there is something definitely there and its also piggy backs on what said about the woman who seemed to be insinuating that having wls was an unecessary risk... that is exactly what I am feeling from people and its been surprising. Especially when its people close to me that I think " get it " ....and in reality they dont. Marcella
