A. Riffel, Ph.D. is the director of the Behavioral Intervention Program (BIP). The BIP is a federally funded grant that provides free services to children in the state of Georgia who have autism or intellectual disabilities and exhibit target behaviors that impede their academic or social progress. Besides directing the BIP, also serves as a professor for Georgia State University; works as a partner on the Office of Special Education Programs Technical Assistance Project for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports; serves on the steering committee for the Effective Behavioral and Instructional Supports (EBIS) project in the state of Georgia, and maintains four websites (www.pbsga.org; www.pbis.org; www.behaviordoctor.org; and http://teacherweb.com/GA/CCPS/EBIS/index.html .. and her husband, Tom previously lived with and served as a housemate to their friend JT who is an adult with Autism, Bi-Polar disorder, Mental Retardation and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Their three children are following in the family footsteps with their oldest son, now residing with JT and their younger daughter, serving as his " dance " partner at the local clubs on the weekends, and their youngest son, serving as his job coach this past summer. has also served on a congressional committee for the reauthorization of IDEA looking at how states are implementing positive behavior support across the United States.
