Guest guest
Anyone know the detailed 'ins and outs' of the deeming waiver? If a child has Peachcare, is there any benefit to applying for the deeming waiver? What if the child is already covered by Medicaid due to income level, not disability? Does adding the fact that he has a disability by applying for the deeming waiver add any more services, counseling sessions, etc? Thanks for any info. The child must qualify for an institutional level of care (hospital, nursing home or intermediate care facility for mentally retarded). Peachcare recipients pay premiums at a reduced cost. Medicaid recipients do not currently pay any premiums. Any child who is found eligible for Medicaid receives the same benefits regardless of how they qualified. Deeming waiver eligibility does not increase/decrease benefits. <<another question: whether or not you have to deal with the state a lot with case management or whatever if you get it. >> Deeming waiver applications are made through DFACs. There is an annual renewal process but case management is not an ongoing service.

For more information go to: http://www.communityhealth.state.ga.us/ click on Medicaid, then info about Beckett/TEFRA and then pediatric level of care criterion. Guest guest
: Go to the Parent to Parent of Georgia web site (parenttoparentofga.org), look under " Health Insurance " , and then " Deeming Waiver " , for a great explanation of how to go about applying for this benefit. You apply through the adult medicaid office in your county. You go fill out a very short form, and then they send you a very long and irritating form, and request your life history, and give you a short time to get the info. Get the following info ready before you apply, so you won't get caught without enough time: proof of income, proof of assets (deed, car registrations), proof of savings/retirement assets, proof of your son's therapy and doctor bills, his IEP, any psychological eval. he's had. Also, you have to have a doctor fill out two forms, so be ready to make an appointment to get those forms filled out and signed by them. As you go through the process, e-mail any questions you have to the group. Don't get discouraged. It's VERY irritating, but it's worth it. Guest guest
You’ll also need a letter from the Social Security office denying them SS benefits. This takes a long time on the phone, but once you get thru, it’s easy. States can offer additional services to adults. Unfortunately, Georgia does not provide dental services (except extraction). Guest guest
How about Beckett under the Medicaid Deeming Waiver? I know many kids include mine have been cut off but I hear we are asked to re-apply again. Deeming Waiver Does anyone know what type of deeming waiver I will need in order for my daughter to continue to receive dental thru Medicaid. I know that there has to be something out there for her. We are covered under my husbands dental insurance thru work but there is a $1000 per year cap and she always goes over that with each visit. She will be turning 21 in September and Medicaid is telling us she will lose her dental.
