Guest guest
Dear Ones, I have been so preoccupied with caring for my son and fermenting kefir, that I haven't started back. We need pleasant tasting Kombucha again. We are keeping the sour KT for starter. May have to fill up my scoby hotels more to make room in the refrig. My poor son has been off KT most of the time since 4 June 07, and his hair is quite grey again. Both our gouty knees are worse. Help me get the guts to keep on brewing. And we drink a quart of kefir a day which keeps my son's stools firm in his ostomy bag. A side-effect that I didn't anticipate. Blessings on you all. LOve. MArge. Guest guest
Marge, As far as kefir keeping the stools firm, I've read that basically, young kefir (24 hours) has a laxative effect and once the kefir ages it can actually cause constipation. Dom actually recommends drinking both young and old kefir each day to even things out. And we drink a quart of kefir a day which keeps my son's stools firm in his ostomy bag.
