WHAT - For the southeastern premier of the movie

Murderball, People First of Atlanta

(http://www.disabilitylink.org/docs/people.html) will be

holding a fundraiser to benefit the Long Road Home

Campaign.  The Long Road Home Campaign is

devoted to raising awareness and compliance by the

State of Georgia with the U.S. Supreme Court's 1999

Olmstead decision, mandating that states place

persons with disabilities in community settings rather

than institutions when appropriate.  Currently there are

thousands of Georgia citizens, including far too many

young children, forcibly institutionalized throughout the

state.  Help People First help other Georgia citizens.

People First is asking that you and some friends come

out and support this important mission by purchasing

tickets through People First to the southeastern

premier of Murderball on July 29, 2005 at the Landmark

Midtown Arts Theatre.  That's all you have to do - buy

some tickets and enjoy an incredible film.

People First has secured 100 advance seats to the

Atlanta primetime premier, and with the cooperation of

Landmark Theatres, is privately reselling each ticket at

a cost of $15.00.  100 percent of the ticket purchase will

be used to support People First's messages of

self-advocacy and self-determination. 

 

Murderball is a powerful film documenting the lives of

the U.S. quadriplegic rugby team as they rebound from

an upset loss to the Canadians in the 2002

World-Championships and quest for the gold at the

2004 Olympics in Athens.  Murderball is the

consensus, best-reviewed film released in the U.S. this

year, including taking home the prize for best

documentary at The Sundance Film Festival and

receiving top reviews all the way from the New York

Times to Entertainment Weekly.  For more information

Murderball is a very frank film, intimately dealing with

the lives of the U.S. team and is rated R for severe

language and sexual content and is strongly not

advised for children under 17.

WHAT TO DO - Please buy tickets at $15.00 each

through People First.  Murderball has sold-out its

premiers in New York and Los Angeles, and we expect

the same at this southeastern primetime premier

event, so, if interested please reserve your tickets by

e-mail at murderballatl .  As tickets are

extremely limited, we strongly recommend reserving

yours well in advance via e-mail.  Once an e-mail order

request is received, People First will send a reply

confirming availability and outlining payment and ticket

claim procedures. People First will be accepting

payment via cash, check or major credit card (through
