Guest guest
When you start a new brew do you wash out the container? I just bottled the ready brew, took out the scoby, filled the same container with the new brew, and put the scoby back in with a bit of starter. Should I have washed the container first? Tiff Wet Cloth Just make sure your cloth cover doesn't get wet. Zoe, have you ever had a problem with the cloth getting wet? I mean as in mold growing on it or something of that nature. I just started a brew and it is really full and the cloth did get wet in an area and it dried very quickly. I guess I should change the cloth ,eh. Also as I brewed my tea this last time I found what looked like yeasties in my tea. I strained it and had a tiny glump in the strainer. I guess I did not use hot enought water to clean the pot last time? It looked normal so I just put a scoby in and am brewing it anyways. I will keep close eye on this one. Guest guest
you (or better, your kombucha) should be just fine. What works for my KT best is to rinse the pot only after every four or five fermentation cycles. Initially I washed the jar every time; it seemed to take longer to ferment and to grow thick scobies. Guest guest
Problems, not personally, but it was stated on the list some time back that when the cloth gets wet it allows the mold spores access to the KT- Im not willing to take that chance when changing the cloth is such a simple remedy. zoe > Just make sure your cloth cover doesn't get wet. > Zoe, have you ever had a problem with the cloth getting wet?
