Adding probiotics to kombucha

I have probiotic capsules that I take containing L. acidophilus, L.

plantarum, L. casei rhamnosus, L. casei, L. salivarius, S.

Thermophilus, B. bifidum, B. longum, L. helveticus, and L. brevis.

What would happen if I added a couple of capsules to my kombucha tea

starter? Would that make it tea even better probiotically?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I bottled my first batch today, am keeping at room temperature for 2

days before refrigerating. So exciting!

If your probiotics (bacteria) are live then it would depend upon what they

feed on. If sugar and tea then they may compete with the Acetobacteraceae

which produce the acetic acid and gluconic acid, and at least the gluconic

acid would suffer. Dom at the kefir group made kombucha and kefir (has a

short article on his website) and - as far as the taste - said it was good.

The short term you would more likely get the wide spectrum. Subsequent

ferments would diminish according to domination.
