Guest guest
Hi everyone, I read with interest the letter from the Red Sox fan. I too sometimes feel left out of a " normal life " , somehow cheated of a " real " child. I hated that I was in constant panic and worry over my son while all the other winners in life cruised by with their athletic chatty children. Until one day I cornered a neighbor at a gathering, one that, you know, had it all. A lovely home, 4 beautiful children who were never sick and always on the honor roll. They were constantly going on trips and heading up some club as a couple. You know them I'm sure. I'm willing to bet every one of you has someone like this in your neighborhood. I finally asked her what she worried about, (really expecting her to say nothing of course). She told me she is very worried about the quality of her son's teacher this year, the lack of gifted programs, and Spanish in PS. She worries about how she's ever going to get everyone to baseball and soccer practice, and she is really in a tizzy about the brown patch on her grass that her neighbors are saying she is spreading like a disease by using the same landscape man. No kidding, she was really upset about this, got all red in the face and everything. I think she actually loses sleep over this stuff! I felt much better when I realized that even the most blessed persons are worried all the time if they lack perspective. So I changed my perspective, my life is hard but my worries are no less a burden than anyone else, I just have a better reason.
