Something indeed seems to be amiss, have you checked thoroughly for the

possibility of molds?

Your formula is similar to what I use but a little strong for most folks. I

don't think cutting down on

the number of teabags will do any good, but you might want to try that before

scrapping the whole idea.

If you think your tea might have gone bad, try using fresh tea. If it came

from china, it could very well have

stuff in it that will cause your symptoms- check the recall lists.

Also check your water source- this could be the culprit as well.

Hi Patty and EveryOne,

The reaction you describe is not usual for folks drinking KT

especially after three months with 32 oz/day and no problems.....is

anyone else drinking your KT? If so, are they also having problems?

Could you have caught a stomach bug? If I were you, I would stop

drinking KT altogether and just drink plain water until the diarrhea

and cramps stop for awhile. Then very slowly introduce a small amount

of KT again.

If you see any signs of mold, in or on your Kombucha, it may be

causing the problem. If possible, start a new batch with a Kombucha

Colony rinsed off with pasteurized vinegar and no KT from your

previous batches and see if it makes any difference once your

digestion is back to normal.

Usually, if there is a problem with the Kombucha it shows up as mold

or it will smell bad....but it is impossible to know for sure what is

going on with yours. If it continues to cause problems after your

digestion is healed then definitely toss it and start completely

fresh. Hopefully there is nothing wrong with your KT and all will be

back to normal soon.

I'm the only one drinking it, so nobody to compare it to. I drink a

gallon of water a day. I have a distiller, to which I add sea salt

and trace minerals after it's made, so my water isn't the problem. I

KT. If I skip a day, I'm fine. I can drink my milk and water kefir

with no problem. Can you overload your system with the GOOD bugs,

lol? I drink both kinds of kefir and make sauerkraut and lacto-

fermented beets. One last idea to throw out: I have a lot of

medical problems but I've basically fought back from nearly bedbound

6 months ago to starting a job last week. Can stress and fatigue

bring on detox symptoms or a reaction like what I'm having?

Stress and fatique can most definitely bring on a myriad of symptoms, but its

odd you only notice

it after drinking your KT. As you said its a great all purpose cleaner, but

sad you can't enjoy drinking it at the moment. Perhaps later on will be

better. Since you have the two kefir's I wouldn't worry too much healthwise,

just enjoy what you have and perhaps in time your body will accept the KT

once again.

Weather is insane most everywhere these days. even here in southern California

where its typically the best of the best. Dips from 90+ to 40's- in one

day , heavy winds, more rain that usual

not complaining cuz I know its worse everywhere else, but just so you know we

get uncomfortable too.

Glad to hear there is no mold on your Kombucha. Stress definitely can

upset your stomach and digestion...part of the fight or flight

response. How wonderful that you are feeling so much better, may your

health continue to improve.

Why not take a break for awhile from KT and then start again slowly

and see what happens. Glad you are starting a new brew, hope you will

be able to enjoy it.

Try fermenting it about a week or so till it is just sweet/sour rather

than letting it ferment to a more acidic level and see it that makes

any difference.
