Guest guest
Jack, The links to TEA's actual rules are at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/assessment.html Haven't gotten them all read yet. Tonya IEP TAKS question I am getting conflicting information. Someone PLEASE tell me. Year before last at the end of the year ARD (my son was in second grade at the time) I was told that if my son took the TAKS test and failed the school would be forced to hold him back. So, we agreed to let the school give him the SDAA test at the end of third grade. He is in the fourth grade now and I am being told the same thing by the school. Question: If my son takes the TAKS this year and fails will the school be forced to hold him back? Guest guest
Tonya, Thank you Tonya. It is there under Administrator questions and answers. If a student does " not meet the standard... the ARD committee will serve as the Grade Placement Committee (GPC). Guest guest
Hi, Just FYI: The TAKS released tests, study guides and information booklets are all on-line at TEA. I might suggest printing out the test and the answer document, and then having your child take the released test outside of school for your knowledge (idea for homeschoolers too). Part of my job is to analyze the TAKS test and results. I am expecting this year's test to be very similar but the SEM (standard error of measurement) will go up. That basically means that your child will need to get more answers correct to pass. For instance, last year an 11th grade student only needed to score a 49% on Social Studies to be considered passing--not 70%-- they could get half the questions wrong. Every year the % increases- -similar to TAAS curve. Here is the link to all of the TAKS released tests: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/student.assessment/resources/release/taks/ index.html Theresa, SA > Tonya, > > Thank you Tonya.
