Guest guest
Dear Families: We need your help now!!! There are two bills that have been introduced HB 83 and SB 174. Both bills would allow employers to offer employees insurance coverage that do not cover state mandates- one being coverage for autism. HB 83 would affect employers with 15 employees or less. SB174 would affect any employer. This is of great concern as both bills would reverse HB 565 which passed in 2001. HB 565 stated that insurance policies that provide coverage for neurological disorders shall not deny benefits based on diagnoses of autism. If these 2 bills pass -Georgia would be taking a giant step backwards. We are talking about our children's future. Both bills are moving quickly thru committees. SB 174 is currently in the Insurance and Labor Committee. Message: I am a parent of a family member with autism. Briefly talk about your child with autism. Talk about how this bill would directly impact your family. SB 174 would reverse all the benefits of HB 565 which passed in 2001. Please oppose SB 174.
