Guest guest
It sounds like you're talking about the kefir grains list. A volunteer can't update it no you're right but it isn't an ad, there's no profit involved for the people on the list, we all do it just to help out and we often get bombarded with requests, very often as I said in a very demanding way. I had one 'request' " Hi I'm looking for grains but am only going to be at this address for two weeks, please send the grains to 50 Axe ..... Jane. " No thanks nor nothing. In the bin. When you've been brought up in a shop and work in a high end shop you get very tired of 'customers' that think you owe them. Well it looks like I had another gripe. lol. The day is young. Yes, and hi Jim, I know exactly what you mean! :-) It is a special pleasure to respond to those who are real nice and friendly. I had such an email this morning, and it does warm your heart! However, I also consider it a privilege to answer those that sound grumpy, short, bad-tempered and are lacking good manners, and to do it in a really friendly way. It's a challenge to me to sow seeds of kindness into others' lives. Encouragement is one of the most powerful tools to better people and situations! :-) This world is often so cold and unloving, but we have the power to change things for the better ... even if there is no immediate positive response. The Kombucha forum is a good platform to practise kindness and patience. Even during the times I don't have much direct list input I am still dealing with personal requests and questions in my personal Kombucha mail. Of course, there are times when people misunderstand you and are downright critical and suspicious of you. C'est la vie! Still, I choose to smile and move on. > Anyway that's my > gripe for the day over. lol. Aw, Jim, that's fine. We wouldn't be human without the occasional gripe and grump. You should hear me sometimes ;-) LOL So, your post was a very positive one and made me rethink some of my attitudes and that's a good thing! Guest guest
Yes I do appreciate what you're saying. But if you consider for a moment what your motivation is and how effective what you're doing is at bringing about the result then things become a little clearer. Who is benefiting on a spiritual level, you for practicing kindness or them, practicing bad manners and disrespect and being rewarded for it and so encouraged to repeat said behavior? If your motivation is only for your personal benefit by practicing kindness for your gain then it is essentially a negative act. So to ignore the rude and impolite requests and so not reward them with the right motivation, that is the way to encourage others to practice kindness and consideration. But ultimately I am not their teacher so again it is foolish to waste my efforts I can be giving to those that want it and so will benefit more. There are only so many hours in the day, so many grains and kombucha in the cupboard and only so much energy in my body and mind so it is prudent to use them wisely. Sending kefir grains and kombucha to those who don't have the effort to put a good email together will probably mean grains and kombucha in the trash because they don't have the energy or effort to care for it, thus depriving those with the politeness and energy of the rewards they deserve. That's my opinion anyway. Guest guest
Hello All, I wanted to respond to the group. I AM on the list of people that have kombucha scoby's, milk or water kefir and willing to share for postage and related costs. I do ship and I try my best to reply to all that email me with a subject line that indicates their need for any of our beloved cultures. There are many people on this list and other lists that I have helped over the past 2-3 years. I have a stack of reciepts for packages from the post office more than an inch deep. I have sent out packs all over the United States. I do not (at this time) send any cultures to other countries. Too many laws and hoops to jump thru and there is always the chance that a culture will end up sitting too long without prompt delivery. Not a good thing. Besides, there are other people in those other countries that can and should help newcommers or anyone that might need a replacement culture. This group is a wonderful haven for those that need assistance and the owner and moderators should be praised for their efforts. Sorry for my outburst. I shall again return to my corner and be a good, quiet lurker. happy brewing to all, Rae in Idaho ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Get easy, one-click access to your favorites. Guest guest
I have a Baby Huey SCOBY from Rae and he is truly a wonder boy! He stays in the hotel and makes babies and starter - what a life, eh? Rae was most gracious in sending a BH offspring to me when I needed a replacement, and she was helpful with a few questions I had. Thanks, Rae!
Guest guest
Hi Peggy, Glad to hear that you are happy with your BH scoby and that he is doing a good job for you. There will be more big healthy scoby's available soon. This colder weather has slowed things down a bit. I will post to the list when some are ready unless someone sends out a request for a scoby. happy brewing to all, Rae in Idaho ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile.
