REMINDER: COME LEARN ABOUT ADVOCACY OPPORTUNTIES!

NEXT WEEK!

I would appreciate any help you can provide in advertising these meetings to

interested folks. We are seeking parents of children with disabilities,

self-advocates and concerned citizens who are interested in learning how to

advocate on behalf of students with disabilities in the school systems.

Attached is an interest question form- if you live in the state of Georgia and

would like to experience the Parent Leadership Support Project- fill this form

out and send it to us! This is how we will make future decisions about WHERE to

have our project. Thank you!

Are you interested in participating in the Parent Leadership Support Project to

become an Advocate in Georgia?

The Parent Leadership Support Project is seeking participants to support parents

of children with disabilities. Participants would enroll in training to learn

how to provide educational advocacy on behalf of other people’s children. The

Georgia Advocacy Office will support participants and offer the appropriate

training on the complex issues surrounding Georgia’s educational system. The

goal is to raise competency levels of Georgians advocating on behalf of students

with disabilities. The next Parent Leadership Support Project will be held in

Macon, two or three days per month, from January through the beginning of May

2005.

If you are interested in applying for or seeking more information about the

Parent Leadership Support Project, please come to one of our four informational

meetings listed below:

- Monday, December 6, 2004, from 10:00am-noon, at Georgia College & State

University (Chappell Room 113), 310 N. Wayne St., Milledgeville, GA 31061.

- Tuesday, December 7, 2004, from noon - 2:00pm, at Warner Robins Library

(formerly Nola Brantley Memorial Library) on Blvd.
