Silani,

If memory serves, there's a series of extremely funny books by a lady called

Lillian Beckwith. She went to live in the Hebrides and wrote some *<very funny

books>* about it.

In one she wrote about seaweed as either a top dressing or like manure in

trenches.

I can't remember if the Jane concerned is on this list or NTUK, but if it's

this one she might be able to confirm, being on Islay.

I'm just at the stage of assembling everything for my seaweed tea. My husband

can't decide whether to be amused or embarrassed at my plan to take the

wheelbarrow down to the beach to get seaweed, then lay it out in the driveway to

wash and dry it.
