The slots will be removed by atrition. I think CLASS is a Godsend. We have to be responsible for getting good attendants and we have always had great ones. I would suggest getting on the list but it may never get shorter. The client directed services option gives the client and family the option to monitor their budget but it does take more responsibility. If the individual is under 18, the families income is still not considered. This is through the Dept Of Human Services. MHMR also has a waiver program. These programs pay for attendant services , adaptive aids, minor home modifications,therapies, etc. They are great programs and have allowed many to remain living in the community.
