Guest guest
Also quoted from Cajun Ernie http://cajunernie.com/gall.php This next is not related to the current problems of this thread. But I'm bound to wonder if the Naysayers Doom mongers and anti Kombuchites have read this...---> Kombucha is an Oriental fermented tea remedy that can be traced back to 400 B.C. where it originated in what is known today as Korea. It’s perfectly safe and has been used by Emperors, Czars and even an American President. It was the 1980s and the President was being treated for Cancer. He was having a problem with metastases (spreading of cancer cells). A culture was brought in from Japan and Kombucha was incorporated into his treatment. He survived and lived into his nineties. Nn. Guest guest
I think you would need to check the potassium level of kombucha. I believe that folks on dialysis need to keep their potassium intake low.

Guest guest
, You mentioned before that your dad was diabetic, so, I'm not sure how the sugar in KT would affect him HOWEVER, as I am on a sugar free diet, I'm fermenting mine almost to the point of vinegar and resweetening with stevia and after 3 weeks drinking it daily, I'm having no sugar cravings. I don't see any other problem with KT as long as you include it in the amount of fluids he is allowed to drink daily. Patty

Guest guest
My point is that the account strikes me as much too anecdotal. There are no more Chinese Emperors or Czars of All the Russias, but American Presidents are still with us. The allegation that an American President used KT is being used to bolster the anecdote. But by not naming the man, there is no way to confirm or deny. I'm sold on KT but my reasons are anecdotal too. I'd love to see some controlled studies with quantifiable results. Guest guest
--- In kombucha tea , " Lang " <annalang@...> , it was President Reagan. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn had been afflicted with stomach cancer in the fifties. After it had metastisized, he was in a terminal cancer ward in Russia---after he had been released from prison for his political views. Being anti- Communistic, Reagan and other conservatives welcomed him and he was granted asylum in this country. He won a Nobel Prize for Literature. It was, I believe, from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn that Reagan heard of kombucha tea. They had noticed in Russia that certain localities where the tea was drunk regularly as a daily beverage, that cancer rates were almost nonexistant. Reagan had been given 6 months to live. He began drinking about 1 liter a day, and the rest, as they say, is history! Not anecdotal at all. Blessings, Jill!

Also am wondering why the American public didn't hear the benefits of KT back then, if it is credited with the cessation of mestasized cancer in RR. I have a dear friend with cancer who when she was dxed looked into everything. When I mentioned to her that I was drinking KT, she actually got angry because of the claims that KT cures cancer. She says that she could not find any sort of controlled, scientific study of the effects of KT upon cancer cells. I have also read claims that KT is good for diabetes which I have. I've been in contact with some of the diabetes study groups, like the American Diabetes Association, and once again, can't find any evidence of a controlled scientific study. There are centuries of stories about the efficacy of KT. But until there are controlled studies, any claims for KT are by definition anecdotal evidence. For a definition of anecdotal evidence: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anecdotal_evidence Might be good anecdotal evidence, but still anecdotal. But please note, I am sufficiently convinced by the anecedotal evidence to brew and drink it myself. :-) Lang -- Lang annalang@... -- http://www.fastmail.fm - mmm... Fastmail... It doesn't say he did, but it doesn't say he didn't...??? (The stress is mine.) Perhaps a deeper dig, would they be bold enough to admit it? Former President Reagan is said to have Kombucha a key part of his cancer fighting nutrient program In that same chapter we learn from 's Soviet source that President Reagan was informed of the benefits of Kombucha and that he made it a part of his personal regimen after cancer had been diagnosed in his body. This intriguing bit of inforrnation is not surprising when we realize that stories persist that the former President was also advised to take beta-carotene in the form of emulsified vitamin A and the Wobenzymes, both from Germany. The fact is: Reagan is going strong today, and he was diagnosed with cancer many years ago. Perhaps he does drink Kombucha regularly. Nn. England. Guest guest
So far this is what I have found.... (just chiming in to help) Reagan was sworn in as president for the second time on January 20, 1985, in a private ceremony at the White House. The public ceremony took place in the Capitol Rotunda the next day, because January 20 fell on a Sunday, and thus no public celebration was held. January 21 was one of the coldest days on record in Washington, D.C., and due to the low temperatures and large snowfall the night before, inaugural celebrations were held inside the Capitol. On July 13, 1985, Reagan underwent surgery to remove polyps from his colon, causing the first-ever invocation of the acting president clause of the 25th Amendment,[88] and on January 5, 1987, Reagan underwent surgery for prostate cancer which caused further worries about his health. At the time, the president was 76 years old. Excerpt from Wikipedia. Cireena K My website Business owners without a website? It's easier than you think and very affordable.
