Guest guest
Sorry but the only connection I know is with multiple schlerosis (the panel that NIH put together to investigate said, " No " but I don't really believe them). On a TV show not too long ago (60 minutes or one of them shows) a cluster of folks was featured that had lupus. They were from one of the New England States. One of the patients thought the lupus might have to do with the petroleum in the water (from the petroleum plant). Isn't Hep B one of those vaccines that can wait till the children are older because they are not in the risk catagory? Guest guest
My understanding of the Hep b, (based upon my reading of " What your Doctor May Not Tell You About Children's Vaccinations " by Cave M.D.- http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0446677078/qid%3D1056127643/sr%3D11-1 /ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/103-9196216-2440669 <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0446677078/qid%3D1056127643/sr%3D11- 1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/103-9196216-2440669> ) is that the only way to catch it is in some circumstaces it can be passed from Mother to child during childbirth OR (and this is a BIG FAT OR) when a person comes into contact with sexual secretions (sperm, vag. fluids etc.) . A mother can be tested right before childbirth to determine if she has HepB, and most don't, so it can be avoided for that circumstance. Children should not be coming into contact with sexual fluids till they are teenagers, at least. So there is NO justifiable MEDICAL reason for giving the HepB to babies the day they are born and the first few months of life. Medical experts that are proponents for the shot argue it should be given because when kids become teenagers and their risk for exposure increases, they might not get the shot and this increases the risk of the disease continuing as a problem. The REAL reason it is given to day old babies and in the first few months of life- the Pharmaceutical company making the vaccination makes over a billion dollars a year on this vaccination alone (not bad for a drug that is protected from litigation, and mandated by law!!) They won't make that billion dollars if teenagers didn't get the shot, so they give it to babies who can't choose not to do it. For any questions related to vaccinations, I HIGHLY recommend Caves book I listed above. Also, I am not medically trained in any way, consult this book first, and your Doctor next for any health care decisions. J. P. Guest guest
Isn't Hep B one of those vaccines that can wait till the children are older because they are not in the risk catagory? <<<<snip>>>> I got the Hep B series when I went to Korea for the Army, back when I was 18. As I understand it, it's a blood-born pathogen, and can therefore be transmitted through improperly, sterilized needles, blood transfusions, or sexual secretions which often contain trace amounts of blood. It is much more prevelent in Asia, and other parts of the world than here. But there has been a recent rise in infections here due to the increased numbers of people who are getting tatoos and piercings, and having unprotected sex. Here's a link to an article on WebMD: http://my.webmd.com/content/healthwise/31/7675 Considering the manner in which it is spread, there would appear to be no logical reason for infants or toddlers to be given these vacinations, if they're mother's test negative for the disease, except as a way for pharmacutical companies to profit. Unless, you want to make sure that the infant is vaccinated, just in case they are injured or become ill and require a transfusion. Considering that my youngest son (2yrs, 6 mnths) has now had 3 heart surgeries, requiring donated blood products, I suppose it's not such a bad idea after all. Blessed be, :-) ________________________________________________ Get your own " 800 " number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag
