Guest guest
Cinda, I wanted diet ginger ale so bad! But I am determined not to get my soda addiction back (It was diet pepsi for me and I do miss them) but I did buy some diet ginger ale and let it go flat and pour it over ice and I enjoyed it very much! It was a flavor change. But not so good I am afraid I will have it too often. LOL! Let us know what you decide to do on the carbonation question! Love,

I freaked when I got a mouthful of carbonation....LOL. I was 3 months out and had the same thoughts of my whole belly popping open or my tummy rupturing and belleding out inside. I spit it out....Now I don't have those fears, but it might be a good thing. in Bama http://hometown.aol.com/mdl1031/myhomepage/profile.html Surgery- RNY to DS revision on12/6 -377.5 12/17 - 346.5 ( minus 31lbs) 02/12-330.0 (minus 47.5 lbs) 05/12- 304.8 (minus 72.7 lbs)-BMI now 48 06/18- 296.8 (minus 80.7)
Guest guest
Hi gang! I have a question, my Mom said that Dr.K says no carbonated drinks for at least a year after surgery. My surgeon told me no carbonated drinks for the first 6 weeks! Wow! Only two weeks to go for me but I want to be careful. When did you post-ops start indulging in carbonation? My Mom would kill for a diet gingerale! But my Dad won't let you have it. Did all of you wait for the full year or have some of you been bad? LOL Cinda

I was a coke-a-holic before surgery, and wont touch it now as I am afraid of getting addicted to it again. I did have a dream about it tho- when I was a few months out, craving Coke in the worst way. I dreamt I got up, went to the fridge and drank down a Coke...it was so real that I could feel the bubbles on my nose, and taste the wonderful nectar of the gods going down. Then my stomach blew up and there were guts everywhere....that is when I woke up. Nope, no coke for me. lol Sharon in Onyx who does have a cherry limeaide at Sonic every now and then tho-

Guest guest
Hi Cinda! I had a soda (without letting it go flat first) at about 6 months out, I think. I didn't finish the whole thing because it filled me up very quickly. Even at going on two years out, I only drink soda occasionally because it's so filling. Also, it tends to give me gas. I would suggest that once you start drinking it, do so very slowly and listen to your tummy. Try to stop before you feel really full because it can be uncomfortable. Tracey > Hi gang! Guest guest
Hi Cinda! I think staying away from carbonated drinks FOREVER is probably the best answer. Carbonated drinks cause the stomach to stretch and no one early in postop should be drinking them. Hugs and blessings, Ann
