They tell you to plan on 2 weeks local. I am glad to as my leak showed up after my hospital stay. I'd have hated to have been on my way home. My suggestion is to call the hospital and ask for social services. Explain the problem and see if their aftercare planners can help you with getting ready post op. I know there are discharge planners who do that here in Gadsden,So I assume as backwards as we are, surely other hospitals do also. I have never heard of a person obtaining pre approval for their own post op stay. Is it possible your hubby could take a little more time? He would qualify for FMLA leave, and they(the employer) couldn't hold it against him. It might be unpaid leave, but at least you'd be cared for. in Bama http://hometown.aol.com/mdl1031/myhomepage/profile.html Surgery- RNY to DS revision on12/6 -377.5 12/17 - 346.5 ( minus 31lbs) 01/15- 338.1 (minus 39.1lbs) 02/12-330.0 (minus 47.5 lbs) 04/06- 324.3 (minus 53.2 lbs) 05/02- 311 (minus 66.5 lbs) 05/12- 304.8 (minus 72.7 lbs)-BMI now
Guest guest
Ask Dr. Z to write a prescription for the service. That's all they need. -- Bobbe, put your 2cents in here. Hello I could really use some advice. I am supposed to have the surgery in Delano on June 26. My husband can only take off 3-4 days from work. I thought that I would go into an after care facility. This is what I told DR Z's office 2 months ago. Today, I felt that I had better do some follow up on this. I had wanted to know back then where I would be going when I got out, and the office told me whatever facility had an opening. Today, I called DR Z & K's office and was told by Dee that the skilled nursing facility has to be pre-approved. Also, that their office does not help in getting the approval and does not help with you getting into a facility. I called my insurance provider and was told: That I do not have knowledge of the medical terminology needed to make the request for the after care facility. I was told that my DR should be making this request. I called back DR Z's officce. I was told by That Dee said she spoke with me earlier and maaade it clear that they DO NOT help in any way with getting after care. They DO NOT have the man power available to help with this. And that is why they request that you have a support person. I explained to why didn't someone tell me this 2 months ago, as I was talking the phone went dead. What do I do? How do I do this request on my own? If I am denied I have to appeal and it is only a month until my surgery. I do not know what to do next. I feel like I might not get this surgery, unless I drive home from Delano to Reno Nevada after my 3 days in the hospital. I feel that that trip would be so far. And what would I do if complications arose? Can anyone give me some advice. Thank You. Most Sincerely, Carla Austin
Guest guest
Bobbe, said the after care facilities are often booked up. Aside from that, How do I get to talk to DR K when Dee tells me They will not help in any way with getting me this service?
Guest guest
Hi Carla! I don't have any words of advice, except talk to Bobbe, which I think you are already doing. I just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy solution to this dilemma. Best wishes to you in getting a successful resolution. Guest guest
I had a lady named Opal Gage take care of me post op. She stayed with me at the Shiloh Inn and was a lifesaver! Her daughter is Dr. K's pt too and she has cared for others on this board. Her name is dscaregiver. She hasn't posted in a long time so I'm not sure if she's still available, but it's worth a try. I can email you her number if you'd like. Also, there used to be another caregiver too. Dee would know who she was I'm sure. Maybe she'll help you with giving you some names of other caregivers. I would also email Dr. K personally if you want to talk with him about anything. He reads and responds to his emails. Guest guest
Hello Carol, I have been away, which is why it has taken me a while to respond. Did you find out DR K's email address? If so would you share? Sincerely, Carla Re: Re: Hello I could really use some advice.
