Guest guest
> On average, how many inches does one loose with the TT? ================================== There is no definitive answer to that one Jim. Some of us have as little 2-3 lbs removed and some as much as 20....that is a huge range. Besides most of us here are women and we think more in terms of cloths size rather than inches. I don't have a clue how many inches I dropped...but I do know I dropped 2 cloths sizes and had about 5 1/2 pounds of skin and fat removed. Guest guest
Subject: Re: TT Question > On average, how many inches does one loose with the TT? ================================== Right now, at just short of three weeks after surgery, I have gained inches from the swelling - probably 1 " - 2 " . Dr. K estimated that he and Dr. Bae removed only about 4 lbs. of excess skin. Skin must not weigh very much because there was quite a bit of it hanging down from what passed for my waist. That was pretty surprising as I was expecting a minimum of ten lbs! Clearly, there will be a reduction of the waistline once the swelling subsides - although that is hard to believe right now. Guest guest
Hi Jim, I don't know if there is an average. It probably depends on how much extra skin you have. I've lost two inches so far (from the hernia) and I assume I'm going to lose at least another couple of inches by the time the swelling goes down. So, it will probably be a loss of about 4-5 inches for me. I've already lost a size and I'm hoping to lose another size by the time my tummy is flat. So, if I lose only 4 inches but go from a size 16 to a size 12, hey, no complaints!! Guest guest
Hi Nick! I know what you mean! I was surprised they only removed 6 pounds from me. And I totally agree with you about it being hard to believe that the waistline will reduce. After having such a round tummy for so long, it's going to be weird to finally have a normal body! Hi Nick Glad to see you posting, how are you feeling? Besides the swelling and the " only " 4lb loss, was it worth it just to have the skin gone? Would you do it again? I know you were in tremendous pain for quite a while. I just gotta know these things, as the 23rd is coming quick! thanks so much my friend, Mike and I really enjoyed our visit, even under the circumstances! lol Sharon in Onyx

Ok Nick I am going to try this again...the 1st one didnt post... How are you feeling now? Any better? Has the swelling gone down? Would you do it again? Even with the minimal weight loss, doesnt it feel better to have the skin gone? I just gotta know these things in preperation for the 23rd. side note- Mike and I enjoyed our visit, even under the your painful circumstances. Hope you are feeling much better soon. Guest guest
Hi Sharon - I feel lots better - haven¡Çt taken pain pills for a couple of days. The swelling is down somewhat but it feels like there may actually be fluid pooled up along the incision line. I hope Dr. K has a really big and absorbent towel ready to sop up the goop when he probes the incision with his famous ¡ÈQ-Tip¡É on Thursday. Minimal weight loss? Nah, there isn¡Çt any loss at all, rather I weigh about 15 lbs. more than I did pre-surgery, probably because of swelling and whatever fluid I am hoarding. There¡Çs no sensation that the skin is gone . . . as a matter of fact, the whole area below the incision is pretty much numb. I can¡Çt really say at this point whether or not I¡Çd go through the panni - knowing what I know now. Your visit was much appreciated . . . and the pie was great as well. Are you still Open where Dr. K can do the q-tip thingie or will he have to draw it with a needle? had to have some fluid drawn with a needle so I was just wondering... Good thing it is still numb so you wont feel anything. The weight gain is just fluid, this too shall pass...lol. I know that I will feel better not having this stuff hanging there, so I am gearing up for it. take good care Sharon in Onyx

Pat, And you have a very flat tummy to boot! I know you have been thru hell, and Dr. K uses you as an example of the worse case scenario, but you have spirit and spunk, and have not let all this get you down.. so instead of a deterent you are an inspiration to how you can overcome the worse case scenario and be a shining example. I am hoping to not have to have your kind of perseverance, but if it should happen, I only hope I come thru it with the positive attitude you have. It really freaked me when my hubby reached over and though he was playing with my boob in the dark and was caressing the fat roll beneath it....LOL. (Wasn't funny at the time). Guest guest
Excuse me, but, as a man, I must say, there is something wrong with a man who can't tell the difference between a mammary gland and a roll of fat. Even gay men can tell the different! I have a book from my human sexuality class that I will send Thom; it should explain everything to him. I am reminded of the on Ford movie, " Witness. " Remember the scene when the Amish father-in-law is showing him how to milk a cow? He looks at Ford and said, " What's the matter, haven't you ever had your hands on a teat before? " Ford replies, without missing a beat, " Never one that big before. " And the father-in-law busts out laughing. Guest guest
Today was my day to have the fluid removed from beneath my TT incision. Dr. K had to go back to the hospital and Dr. Z did the evil deed. His technique was absolutely painless - even for a wuss like me. How great to have two doctors who are so skilled and pleasant to deal with! I have to go back again next week to see if more needs to be removed. He pulled out 560 cc's of guck. No wonder my old pants won't button . . . Best - Nick

Guest guest
Was the guck just fluid or was it infection? Hey, Nick - how is that new hip doing? I am working through the four point protocol for knee replacements. 1. Celebrex 2. Cortisone shots 3. Synvic shots (chicken shots, three per knee. I am on shot #5 for next Wednesday. Results won't be in until 12 weeks after the three shot series.) 4. Knee Replacements. The ortho doctor told me I am too young for knee replacements and then I read on the DRMC web page that DS surgery is for people 60 and younger. Well, I passed that in March so now what do I do?
