Thanks Jo and Sharon and others who wrote. I am now on Cipro (always ready for

an anthrax attack) and Toredol. I do have sutures from where I met the

operating table on one side to where I met the table on the other. Because the

incision was reddish, I was a little feverous, and the swelling pretty bad, he

did not remove any stitches. My drains were in the original DS holes, thus

reducing the need for 2 new scars. The incision is 28 inchesacross. Apparently

the hernia repair was done once I was skinned- drs choice of words- then lipoed,

nipped and tucked, and sewn back up. Jo- how did they do yours?

Tracey.. how did it go at work? I too have bedsores. I had a bad one after the

DS from where the binder, the chair, and my skin met. I will not make a good bed

patient.

Sharon...I hope you had such a wonderful mountain top experience this past

weekend that the insurance company won't know Who hit them. You deserve your

reconstructive work and you will get it.

Nick.. I hope your citrus is shrinking and your pain level remains lowered.

Guess we all have a lot of new scars for show and tell this summer.

============================

I have a hip to hip incision almost to where it would hit the

table...on me it is 20 inches... I had never measured it before.

Plus I have a 7 inch vertical scar...Starting at the hip to hip

incision line...basically redoing the original DS scar, and removing

about 2 inches of skin along that incision. (this is often refered

to as an Anchor Incision, think curved bottom with a line up the

middle, just as if you were drawing an anchor.) My belly button is

exactly at my waistline. They do actually SKIN you, lifting the

skin up separating the skin from the muscles...then pulling down.

This " Skinning " is one reason we have swelling and edema in the

legs. My drains (2) were placed in the mons area..hiding the scars

in the bush. All sutures were the desolving kind....I have a thin

scars that are fading nicely. I was not lipoed, he did reinforce

the stomach muscles (which he said was in pretty good shape)and

found/fixed a tiny hernia that we did not know I had. I think the

most amazing thing about my procedure was I woke up in ZERO pain. I

was not receiving any drugs for pain so I was clear headed. I didn't

even feel the tinest bit of pain until late that night when I then

started to take the vicoden. The reason for no pain...He shot my

insides up with novacaine. So until that started to wear off I felt

absolutely no pain. I was outpatient, so needed to be mobil sooner

plus no IV pain meds. I know he didn't do this with his " inpatient "

hernia repair/tummy tucks.

I ditched my binder as soon as my drains were removed...the binder

would dig into my breast lift incision. My surgeon said, toss it.

What I did do was wear a girdle type panty. The tightness of the

panty helps keep the swelling in control. I wore the panties 24

hours a day for about 3 months.

Hi Betsy!

I'm sorry you're having problems with fever and swelling. I'm still

very swelled and trying not to be discouraged about it.

I did fine at work on Wednesday and Thursday but for some reason

today I'm in a lot of pain. I'm going to take it real easy this

weekend. Sorry to hear you got bedsores, too. They're not fun at

all.

I think by next week I'll be doing a lot better. I think today is

just a culmination of three days of full time work after three weeks

of just relaxing.

I hope your recooping goes quickly!

Tracey

::Wow!, you got lippo too?! You will be positively skinny when the

swelling goes down. I am so happy for you and glad you are healing

realitively well. Just take very good care of yourself, and keep

your spirits up.

I found out this week I cannot appeal till I get the actual denial,

which I havent got. But I do have all the prep stuff ready for when

I get it. I have copies of my pics, from a very sweet and patient

, I have documentation from the assoc. of plastic surgeons,

who recognize any 100 lb weight loss as needing reconstructive

surgery for panni, and thighs in most instances. I have a note from

my a**hole pcp (sorry there is no other way to describe him)- who

also said, " well, at least you look better than before " . Most of

all I have my DH support, who said " dont worry honey, we will pay

for the surgery if the insurance doesnt " . He is so sweet - but the

surgery is going to run approx 20K. 6 hours in surgery and a 3 day

stay. ::heavy sigh:: Nothing is easy. Too expensive for me to

justify. Does anyone know, ( ?), if you self pay, will the

insurance reimburse for their amount if you win the appeal. I dont

want to give up my surgery date, as it fits into our vacation plans

perfectly.

Yea, Nick..

Hows it hanging, dude? I know, not funny, dont make you

laugh....sorry. I know how hard this has been for you. Heres

hoping you are feeling better.
