Guest guest
That happened to me as well. Someone didn't record my enrollment and I had to re enroll But, I'm finally enrolled in a Medicare Part D plan. I got the scare of my life when I ordered meds and was told that the cost would be over $2500. That would have been my normal cost without Medicare help, the so called "donut hole". I have Part D help, so my prescriptions are $2-$5 now. The bad thing is that while I want to work PT to supplement my SSD, if I do, I lose the extra help.I often wonder why our "wonderful leaders" created the "donut hole". Who can afford a few thousand dollars for meds until you go into the catastrophic category? So, I'm left with either not working to have my meds, and go into bankruptcy, or work, lose my extra help and pay thousands for meds. Maybe things will get better (?) next year when we get a new Pres, and new leaders. I enrolled in a new plan for 2008 online on 11/21, and received a confirmation number and a message congratulating me on my successful enrollment. Two weeks later, attempting to complete an application for my ADAP program, I called the plan to verify enrollment, and they had no record of my enrollment. Neither did they have any record of my enrollment at the 800 MEDICARE number in their automated system or when I spoke to a live operator. I had the live operator re-process my enrollment, and received a new confirmation number. Needless to say, I made sure to write down the name of the live operator, and will call the plan in one week to confirm enrollment. With the enrollment deadline approaching on 12/31, it's a good idea for anyone who has been procrastinating to enroll ASAP to allow time for verification and re-enrollment if necessary. My Walgreens pharmacy was able to help me select a plan by printing out a list of plans that cover all of my drugs. I think they will do this even for non-customers, although you'd probably have to give them a list of your medications and doses. This made choosing a plan relatively easy, using Medicare's online plan information. If you're not comfortable using the online tools yourself, the 800 MEDICARE operators can help, as can any internet-savvy friend. Be sure to have all of your prescription bottles handy so you can type the names and doses of all of your medications into the online planning tool. Looking for last minute shopping deals?
