Guest guest
this was posted on another group i belong to. i thought i might get a more technical answer here:"I'm on Atripla. I had a bad fall yesterday after having TWO drinks. A couple weeks ago I mixed alcohol and atripla with no problem, but last night, it wasn't pretty. I had taken my Atripla a few hours earlier, but all of a sudden I passed out at the bar, hit my head on a bar stool, had a contact seizure, and ended up in the emergency room. Ouch. All tests were fine at the ER were fine, no toxicity issues, no blood pressure issues, glucose fine, CT scan fine, they sent me home saying they don't know what did it. I imagine it was the alcohol and sustiva component of Atripla mixing. So, I now know I can't drink on Atripla any more. Which is OK by me, I don't really miss it. So, the real question is, is there any evidence that the mixing alcohol and atripla can you hurt your Viral Load or Immune System? I doubt my one instance of drinking has done much damage, but if someone were to continue to have a few drinks socially (3-4 at a party) every couple of weeks, would it cause problems?"
